Hi Everyone,

I just posted a new release of Eureqa online. This is version includes performance improvements, some new building-blocks, and several other tweaks.

Here is the download link:

We've also switched to a new default error metric which should greatly improve the results list for most datasets. You can switch back to the previous default "Mean Absolute Error" in the "Error Metric" if needed.

Release Notes:
  • Improved the memory performance
  • Improved the algorithm performance
  • Greatly improved the default report in the Report Tab
  • Added ability to save report to PDF, html, or ODF file
  • Improved the default error metric
  • Added missing hyperbolic and inverse building-blocks
  • Improved the data smoothing performance and results
  • Added new AIC error metrics
  • Fixed time parsing bug
  • Improved the licensemanagement
  • Added new window average building-blocks WMA, MMA, SMM
  • Fixed a few reported crashes
  • Added calculate model statistics Report
  • Various minor UI improvements, like scrolling solutions
  • Fixed bug where offline servers became ignored
  • Changed name back to Eureqa

Let me know if you have any problems or feedback.

Michael

Pat,

Would you be able to send me a copy of the project? I could debug it.

Hi there Michael,

I have been using Eureqa for some time now and have only had it crash maybe 1-2 times.

With my current data set (only about 25 points with 10 independant variables), the software has crashed about 20 times since its release.

I'm not sure what to say?

Hey Michael, after some quick tests the first culprit(s) that I found
are the new inverse hyperbolic ops. The strange thing is that it's
happening only when starting new searches (using the default data set
included with eureqa ) -d

wonder: Have I asked the right question?

Dave you are right, thanks for finding this so quickly.

The problem should be fixed now. There was an exception when using the new acosh() building-block, and a potential crash from using too much memory on long runs.

These are both resolved now, download the latest fix (version 0.98.1 beta) here:

Hi Michael,

I cannot anymore find the Mean Absolute Error in the menu.

It is the 3rd option in the Error metric drop down. The label is just "Absolute error"

What does the WMA, MMA, SMM stand for?

SMM stands for "Simple Moving Median" -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moving_average#Moving_median
