Hi there, just got my FCB1010 and the Eureka Prom 2 this week. I have a TC G Major 2 and a 50 watt 5150 III , that amp is so much fun! So i’ve been troweling the net for hours getting up to speed. I've found a lot of good info on this forum.

The PP setup page has the full list of parameters for programming. It looks long winded, but am i correct in thinking the PP mode (Programmable mode) will allow me create custom settings on the PP EF page as follows?

BOTTOM ROW:
1 - DELAY On/Off  (G Major 2 CC#)
2 - PITCH On/Off  (G Major 2 CC#)
3 - MOD On/Off  (G Major 2 CC#)
4 - REVERB On/Off  (G Major 2 CC#)
5 - PRESET -1 IMMEDIATE SEND in current bank on the TC

TOP ROW:
6 - COMPRESSOR On/Off (G Major 2 CC#)
7 - EVH 5150 III Ch1 Switch (learnable CC# on the amp, on midi ch 2)
8 - EVH 5150 III Ch2 Switch (learnable CC# on the amp, on midi ch 2)
9 - EVH 5150 III Ch3 Switch (learnable CC# on the amp, on midi ch 2)
10 - PRESET +1 IMMEDIATE SEND in current bank on the TC

TC will receive on Ch1. The amp can learn and filter ch2 so that the amp switch midi command does not change anything on the G-Major. The 5150 only recognises midi sent as a preset, it does not recognise the stock Eureka EF on/off midi. The preset +1 and -1 are so i can scroll up and down my user bank manually on the G-Major.

Many thanks!!

Rexx,

I believe you should be able to do everything there, with exception of 5 & 10, preset increment & decrement. I'm not aware of a MIDI CC# to the GM2 that allows that. Of course, you can certainly do that in Pr mode, which is one pedal press away...

Cheers,
Dave

Thanks Dave, i'll use Pr mode to change the presets.

I still cannot get the amp switching to work in EF mode, but it does still work in EP mode, which is not ideal as it changes presets on my GM2, i just want those presets to go to a diff midi channel to stop this from happening.

In PP mode Ive set up 3 pedals to all transmit on Ch 2 with CC's 61, 62 and 63 respectively.  I've tried both Momentary and Toggle. The GM2 is setup to receive on Ch 1.
The 5150 III receives all midi on all channels, but will 'learn' and remember the channels as well as the CC's to switch.
So my thinking is the amp will switch when it gets CC's on Ch 2 and not 1.

Is there a way i can change the midi CH of the PRESETS being sent?

In Short, the stock EP mode in G-dash configuration is perfect, i just want Pedals 6, 7 and 8) to only xmit only to the amp for switching (and NOT to the GM2).

What midi parameters does Pr mode send out that the EF mode does not send?

Dave, happy to report i have succeeded!

In the PP programming setup I assigned 3 presets to Favourite presets on 6, 7 and 8, all configured to transmitting on midi ch 2. So back to EP mode, I now have 3 switches across the top for the 3 amp channels, and 5 stomps along the bottom (all at default midi ch 1).  I then had to re-assign the midi on 5150 III front panel itself to learn the new assignments on the new channels, so its all good.

I made it through! Awesome! Now I go play guitar - I"ve earned it!!

5150 III (50 watt) Amp Switching (MIDI) with a Eureka Prom 2 FCB1010 and G-Major 2

So after hours of research and trial and error, i wanted to share out how i got this done.

Because the amplifier only responds to PC (program change) and not CC (continuous controller) midi messages, this posed some challenges. Preset modes on the FCB spit out PC but the stomp box mode on the FCB (EF) does not.

In the PP configuration, using Presets in EF mode work. Set up 3 presets to Midi ch 2 to handle the switching and nothing else, 2 more to handle presets (you get 5 on the top row for presets, and 5 stomps on the lower row). Problem is when you engage a preset button, you have to wait for the LED display to finish displaying all the data it is sending out before you can press another pedal, which takes around 2 seconds, which is just too long if you need to push 2 buttons (i.e: Change an amp channel and engage or disengage an effect).

It is usable, but i don’t necessarily want the amp to change channels every time i change presets, and the delay is bad. I really wanted to emulate a real analog board setup - stomp boxes and an amp foot switch. Of course i could incorporate my EVH foot switch, but i prefer to have one unit so theres less pedal tap dancing.

Next option: Use EF mode pedal-programmed in PP configuration and re-map the mid events with another device.

This option was appealing because it allows pressing 2 pedals almost at the same, so no delay at all or waiting for the display to update. I used a Midi Solutions Midi Event processor as suggested by John Clark on the Voodoo labs forum. This device among other things, can map any incoming midi signal and trigger any other midi signal. So for this scenario I mapped the Eureka Prom default controller numbers for pedals 7, 9 and 10 (cc80, cc82, cc83) to spit out 3 different program changes respectively (i.e.:PC50, PC51, PC52) on midi ch2 on the amp. Then I just put the amp in learn mode and assigned the pedals to the channels. If the 5150 learns on midi ch 2, it will ignore data on other midi channels, nicely done Fender. TC is set to receive on Ch1 (default). This option did involve using the Midi solutions programming software for windows to set up the desired mapping which gets written to the midi processor. It’s easy to use and after 4 attempts i got it working.

So that’s it. Below are the 10 buttons in EF mode in the PP configuration on my Eureka Prom 2 FCB1010:

Pedal 1  : REVERB ON/OFF - TOGGLE - MIDI CH 1
Pedal 2  : MOD ON/OFF -  TOGGLE - MIDI CH 1
Pedal 3  : PITCH ON/OFF - TOGGLE - MIDI CH 1
Pedal 4  : DELAY ON/OFF - TOGGLE - MIDI CH 1
Pedal 5  : TAP TEMPO - TOGGLE - MIDI CH 1
Pedal 6  : NOISE GATE ON/OFF - TOGGLE - MIDI CH 1
Pedal 7  : 5150 GREEN CHANNEL  - MOMENTARY MIDI CH 2
Pedal 8  : COMPRESSOR ON/OFF - TOGGLE - MIDI CH 1
Pedal 9  : 5150 BLUE CHANNEL  - MOMENTARY MIDI CH 2
Pedal 10 :5150 RED CHANNEL - MOMENTARY MIDI CH 2

Its worth noting that the presets you program on the FCB are set to Midi Ch 1 to the GM2.

I can go up to PR mode and +1 up to the next preset, then jump back to EF mode and carry on, works well for what i need and never interferes with amp channel switching.

If you want more info, feel free to ask.
