I have a BCSS RC-500 which won’t work with standard FCB pedal but will work perfectly with a cheap (£29) Mvave chocolate midi pedal. It’s quite a simple problem because the FCB doesn’t send a zero after the 127 to make it a momentary switch, whereas the mVave is easy to program to do this.

I read the EUREKAPROM site info carefully and lots and lots of background reading and experimentation to support my understanding of the problem . When I saw that this device supports toggle / momentary and cost $35 I ordered it the next day (after even more research).

Not only did $35 become $60 after postage and TAX but it sounds like it’s not going to fix the problem anyway. I’ve just been reading on some other posts that the EurekaProm doesn’t really fix this problem in reality.

Now it’s starting to look like I’ve ordered nothing more than a Filofax organiser for my FCB1010 that doesn’t actually do anything useful except organise it a bit.

Hope I’m wrong

Wow, I never noticed that before! I use the EP in IO mode so I have never come across this. I looked at the midi output from the other modes and I was surprised to see that the momentary switches only sends a CC value of 127. As you have said, most other midi monetary switches send a 127 on a press and a 0 on release. That way it is possible to time the gap and implement double tap and hold functions as well as toggling state.

Have you contacted ES to return?

I found this problem when trying to use a Sustain pedal (CC64). Consequently I either use IO mode and Bome MIDI Translator Pro to program my own MIDI messages or my FCB1010 with the UNO pedal.  I asked for a CC off function several years ago when I uncovered this issue.  Guess it is not high on the priority list.

I only ordered this late last week so I haven’t actually received it yet .

I’m just hoping that I can trust Eureka marketing more than other users of this forum’s own personal experience of using this upgrade.

I have a feeling I am going to be disappointed when this arrives. Obviously really hoping I’m wrong here.

Yes, in the PP Programmable Configuration, the pedal type options are "toggle" (press once for a MIDI CC value 127, press again for a MIDI CC value 0), or "toggle" (each press sends MIDI CC value 127). This was by design, and not an error, as some MIDI-based effects units only want 127, especially for 'tap tempo'. Unfortunately there isn't also an option for press is MIDI CC value 127, release is MIDI CC value 0.

In SP mode, the 2 relay switches offer a toggle - closed on press, open on release, and the MIDI notes are "Note On" on press, "Note Off" on release.

Bummer, I didn't know this before ordering (not asking for a refund, it's fine). I need it for Guitar Rig's Looper functionality. If you ever release a version that enhances this feature to allow an option to send the 0 on release, I would buy it.

Hi Ron,

For me, I put my EurekaSound equipped  FCB1010 in IO mode and then use Bome MIDI Translator Pro running on a BomeBox to handle it from there. Probably not the least expensive solution but it works and the applications are pretty much unlimited if you have the programming time.  There is also Uno 2.0 Firmware for the FCB1010 that works quite well but programming is more limited due to the restricted memory of the FCB1010 pedal itself.  Uno 1.0.4 works as well but the programming less flexible.  The main advantage of EurekaSound firmware is that for many applications, it is plug and play with no programming required. No online "editor" to work with.

What I like about Eureka is that in I/O mode I have full control of the programming and LED feedback which I don't get with any other chip on the market.
