Momentary CC not working

I'm using the FCB with a RC-505 looper, and I've programmed the pedals to f.ex. start/ stop the loops etc. I've double checked everything: when I put the FCB pedals in momentary mode, it works the first time I press the pedals - the loop starts on the RC, and then there's no more response, until I reboot the RC, and then it works one time again. Same thing whether I have it set to momentary or toggle/ latch mode on the RC.
But when I put the FCB pedals in toggle mode, it sends the correct message the first time it's pressed and the LED lights, then nothing happens as I press the same pedal again except the LED turns off, and THEN it sends the message again the next time I press it and the LED lights again !

The reason I got the EPROM is because this is exactly the problem with the original FCB - it won't send momentary CC's continuously without having to press pedals twice.

Any help ?

Thanks in advance!

Looking at the RC505 documentation (which is not too clear...)
  • it looks like you need to assign the source pedal to "CC#"
  • regarding "Src Mode", not sure that would refer to MIDI pedal, maybe only relevant to mechanical switches you connect?
  • then select "All start/stop". Or maybe one pedal to "TGT TR rec/play" and a second to "TGT TR Stop"?

Yeah, I've assigned the source CC to the same as on the corresponding pedal on the FCB,
and all MIDI settings are set up the right way. I've assigned the pedals to exactly that; one to TGT TR rec/play, the next one to TGT TR stop, and so on.

And STILL, I don't get the momentary function!! I get the latch, having to press pedals twice to do one thing, bu that's it. Like I said, it only works once - f.ex. when I press pedal 1 the first loop starts, but when I press it again, nothing happens and the loop doesn't start playing..

Did you set up the PP Programmable configuration EF pedals to momentary? http://www.eurekasound.com/eurekaprom/pp

So, let me repeat this back to you so I understand:
  • The EurekaPROM-enabled FCB1010 is set to the PP Programmable configuration
  • One pedal is set to Rec/Play, another is to Stop
  • Those two pedals are set to momentary (in other words, only sending MIDI CC#:value=127)
  • The first time you press Rec/Play, the RC505 starts recording
  • If you press Stop, it stops
  • Then if you press Rec/Play again, it does not record/play. But, if you press Rec/Play again, it does start to record/play?
Is that correct?

I've been having the exact same problem with FCB1010 EurekaRom3 and RC-505 newest firmware update...
No matter if you switch Momentary/Toggle in both the RC-505 or the FCB1010, it will still only work with double "click/tap" for every start/dub/stop...
Very frustrating... I'm thinking this is an issue with the 505 as I had the same problem when I tried to use my Line6 M13 as a midi controller to the 505...
Anyone get this to work properly yet?
Might be time for a letter to Boss!
Good luck

I've also just contacted Boss support regarding this issue, as it looks like someone else is having a similar issue with the RC-202 (the smaller version of the RC-505 basically) over on Elektronauts:

I have a hunch they'll need to provide a software update to resolve this issue. I'll let you guys know if I hear anything back.

Having the same issue with my RC-505 here, version 2.0 firmware. The first command will be recognized but then after that, nothing.

Just a little update, I'm using a workaround currently with Bome's Midi Translator. Just send out a 0 velocity note immediately following any 127 velocity note, but delayed by 100ms (haven't really tested how quick I can make it but this works fine). RC-505 is responding to every press.

Hi guys, just a little update - have not heard back from Roland support. I'm trying them again and linking to this specific thread. There's most likely something wrong with their firmware.

Any updates on this issue.

I have been a rc-505 user for more than 2 years now and had been just using a single footswitch this whole time but I want to upgrade to a midi controller (was thinking the fcb1010) so that I can have a rec/play switch for each track by foot.

But this thread sort of spooked me. Will it not work?

I'm having the exact same problem. Did you find a way to solve it? Thanks.

If you are going to use Bome MIDI Translator Pro (or BomeBox). I suggest you put the device in IO mode and program it however you like to do whatever you like.  I/O Mode allows you to take the brains out of the pedal and put them all into Bome MT Pro.  You also have 100% control of the FCB-1010 LED's and display. The downside is that it requires a fair amount of user programming.

You can see a demo of what I did here

you probably have the 505 set to stop after 1 loop...."1 shot " located in edit/track button

There is a new eprom for the FCB, that fixes this problem.
