Wednesday Bailonga: 50/50 Alternative & Traditional w. DJ Kella
In case you missed the announcement, Bailonga has reduced the bottom of its sliding scale to $5! In addition to switching to $5-10, we are also making it official that no one will be turned away due to lack of funds, and payment by Venmo and Paypal are available at the front desk.
This Wednesday marks the beginning of Robin Chappell's new 2-part intermediate class on “Fusion Movement” informed by Argentine Tango, starting at 7PM! Here's what he has in store:
March 11th: Ocho Cortado Double Play Part 1 - Pivot
Explore your dance expression in a familiar movement. Study includes the use of torsion for a compact cross and an exercise for comfortable pivots.
March 18th: Ocho Cortado Double Play Part 2 - Rewind
Explore the musical flavors of an ocho. Study includes rise and fall for momentum and a double play rewind in the cortado moment.
Also we got lucky and once again get to avoid the Colonial Room in favor of the Upstairs Studio which is to the left and down the hall from the Ballroom. As uaual, Galen Wright Watson will continue this month's beginner series class on the topic of Musicality, followed by an evening of our signature mix of traditional, alternative, and nuevo tango with DJ Kella.
Reminders:- Masking is not required but encouraged, and there will always be masks and hand sanitizer available at the front desk.
- Due to recent thefts at the Vet’s Club and in the parking lot, it’s recommended that you keep your valuables close by. You’re welcome to store them by the stage or behind the divider for extra security.
- No street shoes, please — they can damage the floor. Please bring clean non-marking footwear such as dance shoes or sneakers. Thanks!
- A 30-minute desk shift gets you in for free! First come first served to sign up for shifts, but there are virtually always open slots available.
- Please avoid fragrances/perfumes. Some of us are allergic. Thank you!
