Hello lovely tango dancers!

Kara Wenham will be visiting Eugene next month and joining us at our Milonga del Viernes. The following day she’s teaching 3 workshops at Platform 360. She’s also available for private lessons, so contact her directly if you’re interested: karaw...@gmail.com.

Her brief bio:

Kara has been dancing and teaching Tango Argentino from Argentina and around the world, touring the Tango festival circuits in the US, Europe and Asia for over 25 years. Some of her favorite festivals have been TangoMagia in Amsterdam, Tarbes Festival, Valentango and Misterio Tango Festival in Buenos Aires. As a teacher, she has developed a pedagogy that is designed to empower students by giving them tools for a solid technique, connection, musicality and improvisation. She builds towards these ideas step by step.  In other words,, if you can explain it simply then you have a better chance to transmit this to others. Her interest and aim is not so much the ‘what’ of the movement but rather the ‘how’ and the ‘why’ of it. Whether the embrace is open or closed, Kara's emphasis is on how to maintain a connection that is sensitive, communicative and sensual between both leader and follower.

“Technique is a bridge to effortlessness. Fine tune your instrument so that technique can give itself over to musicality, creativity and expression.”
