Speaker: Dawn Meyer, Account Recruiting Manager at TEKSystems

Topic: The do’s and don’ts when applying for jobs and interviewing.

With the IT market maturing as quickly as it is, it’s important to know the do’s and don’ts when applying for jobs and interviewing.

For some the thought of interviewing or working with agencies can be frightening. And for others who may be seeking change, you don’t know where to begin. For those and many more reasons, I’d like to share a few best practices and lessons learned that you may find helpful were you to consider a new career or if you are just plain curious about the market.

Topics that I will be covering:

Companies who are hiring
Top skill sets in the industry
Industry trends
Compensation
Resume formatting
Interview questions you will be asked
Interview questions you should ask
How to dress/prepare for an interview
What to say and not to say in an interview
How to follow up with a recruiter / hiring manager/HR
Hiring process and what to expect with a recruiter and HR
What if my skills are outdated?
I have a gap in my employment
I was fired from my last job, what do I say if they ask me about it
Marijuana
Professional References
What to consider when considering a job. Ie. Compensation, commute, manager, team, benefits, growth, flexible work schedule, etc..

If there is something specific you would like me to touch on, please send me an email at the address below and share your question or topic.

Location:  We will be at the Peace Health Office in Eugene, OR (see map @ RSVP site)

Food:  Lunch is being provided by Tek Systems.
