General Responsibilities:

The mission of the College of Education (COE), one of seven colleges within the University of Oregon, is to prepare individuals to become administrators, teachers, researchers, human services providers, or professionals in education-related fields.  This position is in the Office of the Associate Dean for Global Education, which is the central administrative unit of global education endeavors in the COE. Working within the Office of the Dean’s administrative structure, the functions of this office have an effect on the entire College.  A major goal of the online/global education initiative of the COE is to serve learners in and from China.  This position serves as a Client Service Specialist for learners in and from China and reports to the Coordinator for Global Education.

Major Duties

  • Marketing our programs, specifically to a Chinese audience.
  • Develop and sustain the marketing of Oba, the online learning platform.
  • Assist the Global Education Online Coordinator in the development of global education training programs.
  • Translate both written and oral communications between staff of GOE and Chinese professionals or learners.
  • Maintain relationships with educational partners in China. This may require travel nationally and internationally.
  • Coordinate and host bi-cultural immersion outings around Oregon or neighboring states.
  • Work with GOE staff supporting the online learning platform, including development of online educational content.
  • Support face-to-face and online cultural experiences.
  • Serve as liaison and host to conference groups from China. 
  • Assist Chinese and US educators in the VISA application process.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience making logistical arrangements, accommodations, food, and transportation for travel groups.
  • Extensive Bi-cultural experiences in the US and China.
  • Excellent translation and interpretation skills between Mandarin and English.
  • Intimate knowledge of education and culture in China.
  • Experience working with a team of individuals with diverse backgrounds and skill sets.
  • BA or BS in Business Administration and/or Marketing or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of marketing online programs.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration and/or Marketing or related field.
  • Experience of graphic design for creating promotional materials.
