Subject: WAKE UP!  Must ACT NOW!  Mobilize! Thursday work session crucial!

Hello all,
I spoke at length with Dr. Berman in person this weekend.  He wants a Chinese immersion school but said he is hearing from  4J's Board of Directors that they have NOT been hearing from us, getting emails from us; THEY HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THE CHINESE COMMUNITY!

The Board IS hearing Willard's negative point of view on immersion schools claiming equity and elitism issues in addition to our silence.

Dr. Berman EMPHASIZED THE CRUCIAL NEED FOR THE CHINESE COMMUNITY TO COME OUT AND CLAIM WHAT IS RIGHT FOR ALL, A CHINESE IMMERSION SCHOOL!   OUR TANGIBLE COMING FORWARD AT THIS CRUX TIME CANNOT BE OVEREMPHASIZED AND MAY WELL BE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN IF AND HOW A CHINESE IMMERSION SCHOOL EXISTS!

Thursday is the day The Board gives their decisions on what is in and what is out of the facility use plan,
and Dr. Berman believes our Chinese Immersion school is in play and, after 30+ years, is finally there for the taking:  IT NEEDS TO BE TAKEN THROUGH OUR ACTIONS NOW!

I personally support the Superintendent's Asian studies building two immersion international, made from scratch with a science middle school magnet to shore up the Churchill district and give a compelling  package choice.

The other alternative seems to be an existing structure perhaps in current use perhaps not, that is not Asian form as content architecture, but is a single by itself, Chinese Immersion School.

 BUT,
I BELIEVE IT IS MORE IMPORTANT TO GET A CHINESE IMMERSION SCHOOL STARTED NOW, THAN WHICH LOCATION AND WHAT STRUCTURE IT STARTS IN!

WHATEVER YOUR PREFERENCE OR ALTERNATIVE IDEAS ON THIS IMPORTANT DIFFERENCE, YOU MUST FIRST MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD NOW!, BEFORE THE MEETING THURS.!

Everyone, as Equity Council members, Jett and I took the liberty to invite the Equity Council and  School Board to the  welcome for the School Administrator from China, October 29 at the McCornack Elementary, 6:30 pm.  Many school board members have said they will come.  Please come and show your interest that way too.  Jeane Lee is organizing the refreshments.  I'm bringing a quarter sheet cake.  Ada is welcoming the guest.  Hope you all can come!  Misa
