I'm hoping to have some time next month to track down some consignment
possibilities for the holidays and I thought we could have a
discussion about it.

For anyone already consigning....throw out names, terms and whatever
info you have. Let's discuss!

I am only doing one set of consignments so far - at the Midnight
Garden Apothecary, a new pagan/metaphysical store on Hwy 99. I know
the owner. She gives very reasonable terms, since she's more
interested in bringing in local talent and widening her store's
offerings than in making a lot of money on any particular item. So she
basically asked me what I needed to make off each piece, and then
added some for herself to the price. I wrote up something about it at
the time on my blog:

I'm interested in doing more, but not sure where to start or if other
stores' terms will allow me to keep my prices reasonable while still
making enough money.

That sounds like a great opportunity, Kate! I really like that bone
series...very cool!

Okay...I know there are folks that take their stuff to Deluxe. What
is the split and how has that worked for you? Brandi? Isn't there
another shop on Blair by the glass shop? Ashley....how is Olive Juice
working for you?

Consigning has been good!  I find that my successes (sales) in stores (as well as online) are directly related to how much I "tend" (old, but true, gardening analogy).  Checking in a lot is necessary, replenishing product, and swapping out old stock.  Working with out of town shops has been a little tougher, in my experience their communication isn't the best and you can't just stop by.  But seeing your product in shops is pretty awesome.  It is also pretty great not to hear every flippant, unedited comment from passersby that you get to hear when vending!

Deluxe does 60/40, which is generally the standard for consignment sales.
Sweet Potato Pie does 50/50, but they can get a high enough price so that
I still get what I need per item. Redoux Parlor also does 60/40.

Great info!  I've been meaning to get down to Deluxe and will check out the others.  Great tip about checking in often, Ashley!

Has anyone made a trip to the coast or other area to check out consignment shops?  I've been think about doing that, too....plus it might be a nice day away from Eugene ;)

Anyone else?
