In case you missed it, last week we had a great tour of Pivot's new digs and a chat about events/goals for DesignSpring in 2012 over pizza and beer!

This year we’re going to focus our efforts on the things that have been successful in the past. We plan on continuing to do 10squares, the What Architects Should Know series and Architalks lecture series, and Beer:30s. We are also planning on kick-starting the mentorship program and organizing an ARE “support group”.

Some additional ideas were to:

Have a topic of conversation at the Beer:30, rather than it being a purely social event.
Thing about starting a membership directory with our contact information for group use only.
Get some new people to step up and help with leadership. Volunteering with Design Spring will count toward your AIA-SWO volunteer hours!

We've filled most of the leadership roles for 2012, but we still need a few people:

Social/membership director - check our email, post on facebook, and send announcements to members.
Monthly meeting coordinators – We already have one, but would like one or two more to help plan monthly meetings. We have some ideas or you can bring your own! Tasks include finding a location, coordinating with the presenter(s), and writing a description of the event… That’s it!
On-call help - we need a pool of people willing to help at an event or two during the year.

Coming soon:

Speed Mentorship! - like speed dating; a series of four-minute chats with licensed professionals, which could lead to a committed mentorship or be a one night stand, either way it will be fun.
ARE brown bag lunch - connect with others who are taking or thinking of taking the ARE.
