Local acitivist has functioned well for several years now. I would hate to see
voices stilled because you or David are unwilling to find out how to use a
filter.

: Getting closer to a win/win solution
MichealP,
Well, then if it's not difficult, I would ask you to only send posts
regarding local activism to the Local Activist list. Anyone else who wants
to get your informative postings about Chiapas, GMO's, national elections,
etc. can get them by subscribing to your list.
As you know, I don't want to moderate the posts, I just want to get local
activism news from the Local Activist list. By creating your own
distribution list and allowing anyone who want to get your postings to
subscribe to it, we avoid the whole issue of who moderates the list,
top-down hierarchies, and the like--things we both agree are not good.
Again, we create a win/win situation!
Thanks for understanding, and sorry if it sounded like I was criticizing
your activism; that was certainly not my intent.
En solidaridad,

I know how to use a filter, by the way, but the computer hasn't
figured out how to leave in the good suggestions, etc. and filter out
needless digs.

Dear MichealP,
One thing that happens, and I have been guilty of this in my postings to
Shava, is that we send out publicly what we should probably send to an
individual privately--We could go off-line so to speak in an e-mail
addressed to
the party we wish to confront. That feels real shaming to me when I am
called to task before the group. It's like being scolded in front of a
classroom. It
might discourage people from sending information out that is important.
There are differing points of view on this. All are probably have
validity.
