I am planning on homeschooling my oldest daughter next fall (and my 2
year old when he's ready) and have my own business selling Usborne
books. They are educational children's books (800+ titles) and my kids
use them at home. You get to go out some evenings and give others the
opportunity to get these books for almost nothing! I love having my own
business, I love the books and I am able to be at home with my kids.
This business also allows me to do fundraisers for causes that greatly
concern me (abused children) and I also give them my share. What a
great feeling to be able to give to others less fortunate.

I have a web page, which also contains homeschooling links, if you're
interested:

It really is fun!

Avis.
I just caught your post about Usborne books, your own biz selling them.I am
interested in a home based business, possibly selling homeschool supplies.
How much of an investment is required for what you do? Are these books
"stories" or curriculum?
Thanks in advance!

You can make an investment with as little as $45 for supplies, which is
what I did, to up to $199, which includes 32 books and supplies. I also
put up a web page for very little money, as you have no territories and
can sell and recruit nationwide.

Usborne books contain: activities, bible stories, board books, classics,
English, math, fiction, fine arts, crafts, geography, language, music,
nature, puzzles & games, science & technology, social studies, story
books and parents' guides, and range in age from 9 months to adult. The
average cost is $7.95. They are unique because they incorporate
step-by-step explanations of the how's and why's, cutaway illustrations
to bring you "inside" the pictures, double page layouts, pages filled
with so much activity you could read a page and talk about it for hours,
the use of short sentences which encourages the child to read. They
also have a "find the duck" theme throughout many of the preschool
books, which my son (and I) love to find. The illustrations are
outrageously detailed and the color is just beautiful. My daughter just
recently used the book on Greece for her school project and it answered
"all" of the questions the teacher asked her to find. The text was easy
to read and there were many pictures describing the text to make
retaining the material go beyond the test date.

As you can see, I LOVE books and I really love these books! I can't say
enough how FUN it is, which is an important feature for me. My family
also helps (my daughter does face painting when I do a booth, helps
tally orders, etc.) If you would like me to send you more information,
just go to my web page and fill out the request for information page.
I'll get the material, along with our full 800+ title catalog out to you
immediately.
