INTENDED AUDIENCE: young women, especially those who are unmarried and
in their teens or twenties (although we do have subscribers everywhere
from 8-year-olds to grandmothers to families who only have sons but
enjoy it anyway :-) )
PURPOSE: Nurturing young ladies toward Biblical womanhood
DESCRIPTION: We started HopeChest in June 1992 looking for the
fellowship and encouragement of other girls who wanted to seek and serve
the Lord whole- heartedly. Today the magazine is written by the young
ladies who receive it, as well as by mothers and grandmothers (Ti.
2:3-5), with a focus on loving the Lord and our families, servanthood,
and redeeming this time in our lives. HopeChest seeks to provide a forum
for young ladies to share insights and skills with one another, to learn
from each other, and to encourage one another to "set an example for the
believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity." (1 Tim.
4:12) Contents include character-building articles, sisters' accounts
of their struggles and what the Lord has taught through them, interviews
introducing like-minded families, inspiring stories,
letters and photos, recipes, pen-friend ads, book reviews, and the
like. "Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance
of faith . . . Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He
who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one
another on toward love and good
deeds." (Heb. 10:22-24)

Naomi writes..."I believe in these last days that God is beginning to
perform supernatural things that He has been declaring and prophesying
for generations. The powerful "pouring out of the Spirit on all flesh"
promised by God by Joel
is beginning to come into manifestation, and the Spirit of God is
stirring in the hearts of men to wake us up to the fact that we are
indeed at war. In this exciting time, we as young people must not sit
back, relax, be young, and have fun, as the popular myth says....I
believe God is raising up a generation of Joshuas and Davids, a
generation of young people who will walk in faith and move mountains
that many previous generations have left untouched.... we are going to
begin to walk in power, anointing, and victory in every area of our
lives....
That is why this magazine, With Shouts of Joy and Victory, was
started. The Holy Spirit is doing something new within the scope of
these pages as a means to display His power and glorious acts. He will
use each issue in a unique way to honor and glorify Jesus, by drawing
upon what is Jesus' and disclosing it to us...as the Holy Sprit has free
reign over what gets printed, all that is written will be that which He
has given direction for.
With Shouts of Joy and Victory will be used to proclaim victory
– not defeat. It will serve to encourage young people to join God's
fray, overcoming all the power of the enemy, as they allow Jesus to be
Lord over their lives. We have been changed into "more than
conquerors"; let's follow Christ Jesus, the Captain of the Hosts, as
through His power we together take back this generation to be the
end-time warriors that God has called us to be!

Some of our regular columns are: Leaving For Us a Legacy--letters and
articles by woman who are examples of Christ-like character. In the
Comfy Chair--Books: Reviews, Recommendations, and what we've learned
from them Maiden's Mailbox--letters and encouragement from our readers
Beautiful Girlhood--a Bible study on the book, Beautiful Girlhood, in
which we study one chapter per week and print verses having to do with
the topic--comments and insights from readers are welcomed The Bible
Alone--a one-page theological column, written by Mr. Todd Ruddell, who
is in the process of becoming ordained in the Presbyterian church.
Next issue we will begin a rather lengthy series on Courtship and
Dating, originally a sermon series, by Rev. Richard Bacon. We also print
short stories, articles, recipes and letters from the editor.
The magazine is currently 20 pgs in length and is published 6 times per
year. The subscription price is $8.50 and sample issues are $1.50. If,
however, someone cannot afford the magazine, but would still like to
receive it, I can cover the subscription price for them, as our highest
purpose is to glorify God and be a ministry to others.
The readership age varies a lot. We have married women on our
subscription list who enjoy the magazine very much, and we also have
girls in their pre-teens, and many others who have told me that the
whole family enjoys reading it together.
I am sixteen (almost) and enjoy editing this magazine so much. It has
been a very real blessing to me, and sharing in my editors letters what
the Lord has been teaching me is a encouragement both to my walk with
Him, and, I pray, to others' as well.

I don't have a print magazine, but I do have an email magazine. It is
JOY! and it is free, coming once a month to your email mailbox. At the
moment there is no web page.
Its purpose is to give Christian girls of all backgrounds who have an
email address something fun to read that everyone will enjoy. We suggest
ages 12-18 should recieve it, but we have 11 year olds who get it, enjoy
it, and also contribute, so there really isn't any age "barrier" in
getting JOY!
If you even decide to put this in your little list, as it is email and
not printed, they can contact Sarah at Jump...@aol.com with
"Subscribe to JOY!" in the email header and their name, email address,
and birthday in the body of the message.

spur sisters on in the faith. "Kindred Spirits" also urges young women
to use this time in their life to learn to be "keepers at home."
Articles included in recent issues: Living to Give; A Mother's Helper
for the Glory of God; Feasting on God; Quilting; Underground Composting;
Living a Meaningful Life; Jewish Feasts; and topics that encourage
modesty, biblical courtship/betrothal, homemaking, and godly living.

“Let no one look down on you because you are young, but set an example
for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in
purity.” -1 Timothy 4:12
~The Violets, Lilies, & Roses~
The YLCF is divided into three age groups:
~ VIOLET means Modest and Humble: The Violets are Christian girls ages
12 and under, who love the LORD, are humble and modest, and who desire
to be ladylike.
~ LILY means Pure in Heart: The Lilies are Christian young women ages 13
and up, who love the LORD, are devoted to having a pure heart and body,
and who are feminine, not feminist.
~ ROSE means Giver of Love: The Roses are “older” or married women who,
by loving example, train young girls and teens in the areas detailed in
Titus 2.
The YLCF newsletter is a quarterly newsletter for girls, young
ladies, and women. Edited by Gretchen Glaser, it is designed to
encourage other young ladies in living a Godly life, growing to know
their Savior better, and having Him as their Best Friend. It has a
different theme each issue, and special features include a “Kitties’
Korner” for younger girls, as well as a homeschooling section and
“wonderful books for girls”. You will find as well articles on
spiritual topics (corresponding with the theme), recipes, a “pen-pal
post” for finding pen pals, “theological thoughts”, plus great poems,
quotes, and much more!
~The P31~
The P31 is a bi-monthly Christian newsletter, for young ladies and women
(some topics only appropriate for those 12 and older). Edited by
Gretchen Glaser (age 14), it has subject matter pertinent to those who
wish to become a woman like that described in Proverbs 31:10-31. The
name “P31” stands for Proverbs 31. A note from Gretchen: “The reason I
am writing The P31 is because I believe we need revival among our teens
today. That is my mission in writing this newsletter—to
provide us as Christian teenagers with the encouragement and conviction
to reach a lost and dying world for Christ. But we first must start
with ourselves, because our actions speak louder than our words!”
~The Great COM Mission~
For those in the YLCF with e-mail and Internet access, we provide an
e-mailing called The Great COM Mission recommending excellent web sites
(as we find them!), as well as discussing other things pertaining to
e-mail and the internet.
~YLCF Prayer Circle~
The YLCF Prayer Circle, an e-mail prayer group, is a wonderful way for
the young ladies in the YLCF to share prayer requests with each other.
(Serious prayer requests, pertaining to those in the YLCF and their
families, only please.)
~Highly Recommended Resources~
Each December we include a pamphlet with Bible studies, books, tapes,
periodicals, and videos that we highly recommend. Listed also are the
prices and sources for them. Our readers love this, and many have
become completely “hooked” on the books they have ordered!
~We’re a Ministry!~
We wish to be known as a ministry, because we aren’t out to make
money—we are here to serve our LORD and Savior! For this reason the
newsletters are free of charge. However, this doesn’t exempt us from
the cost of producing the newsletters! Donations are greatly
appreciated (the approximate cost per person is $10 a year), but not
required to receive the newsletters. Each year we will send out a post
card for you to return if you wish to remain on the mailing list.
Make sure to respond to that postcard, otherwise we will remove you from
our mailing list! Please Note: if you do choose to make a donation,
please make checks payable to Gretchen L. Glaser.
