We finally have a vote scheduled on HB 3080-B. It's Monday morning. Here are
actions you can take to help assure the passage of this bill:
1. Pass this message on to everyone you know! We need to flood the capitol
with letters, phone calls and our presence.
2. Come to the capitol building on Monday. Come early -- about 8:30 or 9AM
--- and lobby every Representative you can find -- especially your own. If
you haven't done this before, ask at the information desk about how to get to
their offices. They all have administrative assistants who are friendly and
approachable. You can talk to them, leave messages, maybe even get a few
minutes with the legislators to press your case. Our presence is very
important -- they need to know, by seeing us, that we care about this bill.
3. Print out a message that says something like "Please vote for HB 3080-B,
NOT for the minority report. HB 3080-B is a good compromise between state
interests and the needs of homeschoolers. The minority report will make
homeschooling even more difficult. Please support HB 3080-B as it was passed
in the House Education Committee" and deliver it to their offices (you'll
need about 65). Make sure your name is on it. Highlight the part that says to
vote for the majority version. Maybe even do something with a design on it
the kids can color in. When we did this (had the kids color it) it made a big
impact.
Anyone who would like to caravan from the Portland area, meet at the Burger
King at the Wilsonville Exit #283 at 7:30AM. Look for a green Ford Aerostar
van.
4. Be visible; bring your children. Wear a nametag identifying yourself as a
homeschooler if you want -- it may make it easier for us all to find each
other. Go to the gallery around 9:30AM so you can get a seat. It is on the
second floor. Ask at the information desk in the front if you are not sure
where it is.
5. Call the legislature this weekend and leave a message for every
Representative: Call the legislative hotline at 1-800-332-2313. The names of
the representatives are included below.
Tell them: "Vote "No" on the minority report for HB 3080; vote "Yes" on HB
3080 dash B, the committee report."

You can also FAX the representatives but I don't know if they will get them
before the vote on Monday.
FAXING THE LEGISLATIVE REPRESENTATIVES:
There are only 3 FAX numbers. Each representative has a numerical address,
which indicates which floor they are on (for instance, Representative Beck's
address is H-366 so he is on the third floor). Numbers beginning with 2 are
on the 2nd floor, and so on. Each floor has one fax number.The fax numbers
