This is non-commercial and no money is involved.
I'm looking for parents who are willing to do some on-line co-operative
teaching beginning next fall. I currently teach a class called "Writer's
Club" for h'schooled kids and it is going well. This is the second time that
I've done it! It IS FREE.
Here is what I propose:
-we only conduct our on-line classes for ten-weeks, and each class only meets
once per week.
-we begin early enough so that the classes are completed before Thanksgiving.
-no teacher/parent gets paid. (students may need to purchase supplies, though)
-children participate ONLY if their parent is teaching a class.
Just to get things started-
I agree to teach three on-line classes as described below:
Writer's Club - A BBS where students post their creative writing. Positive
comments on each written piece will be provided by the other students in the
class and by the instructor. Students must have email and access to the
Internet and be able to 'cut and paste' their written pieces to the BBS. This
is really not a computer skills class. Limit 10 students. Ages or grade
levels: All

Genetics - a biology class utilizing many of the excellent web sites available
to teach the basics of genetics. Evolutionary theory will not be covered.
Students shall install ICQ so that they can participate in weekly discussions
about what they have read. Students will be sent tasting test papers so that
they can follow inherited traits through their family's gene pool.
Instruction will take place via email and icq chats with the students.
Limit 10 students. Ages or grade levels: ninth through twelfth grades
Running Your Own Kid-Mailing List - a computer skills class where each
student will be able to start up their own student-run email discussion list.
The Student must complete a questionnaire before being allowed to enroll in
this class so that I can determine their skill level in navigating around the
Internet. Limit 3 students. Ages or grade levels: high school.
I have two other parents who have agreed to particpate. One wants to teach
Hebrew and the other wants to teach a higher-level writing course.

above, then write me back and tell me what you will be teaching to my kids!
