I know of people who work part-time, so it can be done. With a 5-year-old,
whatever "schooling" you do just isn't (shouldn't?) take too much time. I
would think you could fit it into your schedule. And a 10-year-old is old
enough to work independently.

I frequently lose patience with my kids--well actually just one of
my kids. I am continually challenged in dealing with him. But I think it's
just because I'm his mom rather than his "teacher." It IS hard being a mom.
But I really don't do much teaching. I am a resource and facilitator.
(I used to yell at my kids when I got mad, but after 15 1/2 years of
being a mom I almost never do. I get mad, but generally can avoid doing
something I'll regret later. I like to think I'm finally growing up!)
An important thing to remember is that (generally) the older they
get the easier they are to deal with. A 5-year-old and a 3-year-old take a
LOT of emotional energy, and it is really easy to get tired. They won't
always be this frustrating.
