The FBI lost the Weaver case and a major investigation of the FBI followed.
Following the investigation some major policy changes occurred and at least
one bill was passed by the legislature pertaining to FBI and other Federal law
enforcement agencies. Some of us have known since the Vietnam War era that
the FBI engaged in activities which we felt were unconstitutional. Snipers
and agents who infiltrate groups and provoke violent actions so that law
enforcement can make arrests and even kill members. The FBI has until Ruby
Ridge managed to deny and make impotent any effort to end these activities.
The citizen militias, which emerged in response to Waco, Texas and Ruby Ridge
have successfully seen to it so far that other such elimination responses have
not occurred. Any time a militant group is in a stand off with Federal
authority, the state militias send representatives to monitor the situation
and to remind the Fed that any unlawful violent action may be met with militia
defensive counter force. In my view, this is the first real progress against
the ever growing power of the Federal government we have seen since the
process began in the 1930s.
