Hi everybody,
Here's Christine Webb's summary of what HB 3080-B would do. I don't
know when it would take effect.
I have a copy of the whole bill if you are interested. Ask me and

1. Exempts homeschoolers enrolled in a satellite or off-campus school/program
(public, private or parochial) from compulsory attendance laws.

2. Allows parents to choose an alternative form of assessment from a public
or private school teacher in lieu of a standardized test. The form is not
defined and is up to the parent and the teacher to decide.

3. Codifies the definition of "satisfactory educational progress" (for
testing purposes) as what it has been for the past 12 years. Currently the
State Board of Education has the right to redefine the standard and set it
anywhere up to the 50th percentile.

4. Changes the testing schedule from annual to grades 3,5,8 and 10.

5. Restricts rights of public school students when they use homeschooling to
get around the OSAA rules to play sports. This amends the Interscholastic
Activities part of the law.

6. Restricts tests approved by the state to those which are nationally
normed standardized tests.
