Are you looking for a school nearby you or a boarding school? Other than
sending your students to a school, you will ultimately have to log your
student's daily work. All a distant school can do is record keeping. They
cannot do your daily logs for you. In so far as secular schools go, they are
expensive and they are not religious neutral. They used to teach secular
humanism. Today, usually what goes for secular humanism is really what is
currently called "liberalism." The term "liberalism" was appropriated after
1930 by a strange form of socialist, the American socialist, who often denies
being a socialist. To my knowledge, ours are the only socialists in the world
who deny being socialist. Under the American brand of socialist who get all
the evils of the authoritarian mind. The political strategy is quite Bolshevik
and has strong similarities with nazism and facism: The internal enemy (white
males, with white male businessmen being the ultimate) that is unredeemable,
focus on semantic tricks (what George Orwell called doublespeak and newspeak,
take over of the media, academia, and public schools, entertainment, criminal
justice and sociology departments, replacement of English social thought with
German social thought (which focuses on groups rather than on individuals),
interference with big business (Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy and Communist
Russia took over big business for authoritarian purposes), disarmament of
civilians, resort to use of courts and Federal law to sidestep local rule and
circumvent legitimate political process, revision and distortion of the past,
of history (secular humanist education textbooks are full of little boxes
about figures who were not important but are now being made into looking
important), Divide and conquer by focusing on groups and on group differences
rather than on similarities. For Germany it was the Jew and other slavic
people. For Russia, it was the allegedly unredeemable small business person
(Stalin ordered policies that resulted in the murder of some 15million shop
keepers (many of whom were Jewish and other Mideast and Eastern European
slavs). The past is rewritten. Important cultural terms such as "democracy,"
"liberalism," "justice," "equality" are distorted into new undemocratic,
authoritarian definitions. Every political act results in increased government
power and authority. Social tyranny is employed. In Chinese authoritarianism
suspected dissidents are paraded down the streets, ridiculed and spat on. In
America, professors who ask the wrong questions or present the wrong facts are
ordered into sensitivity camps (brainwashing camps), an increasing number of
questions and issues cannot be raised in American classrooms. The Ohio
legislature has become so concerned about this that they recently passed a law
which takes away college campus power to punnish students for anything they
say or write on campus. Humiliating laughter is used just as it was by other
authoritarian movements.
Think this is far fetched? Americas like any other modern people have
shown a certain capacity this century for authoritarian movements. Examples:
The post WWI Red Scare, during which many Americans were rounded up and
shipped to the Soviet Union. Paul Robeson and Charlie Chaplin were victims of
this putsch. Then in the early 1950s there was the UnAmerican Activities
putsch lead by Joseph McCarthy. Now, we have the most dangerous authoritarian
putsch in our history, the Political Correctness of the so-called American
Liberal. For over two thousand years, "liberalism" has meant freedom,
consideration of government as a necessary evil, belief that the best
government is the government that governs least. Now, true liberals like
myself (Jefferson was a true liberal by the way) are somehow pushed into the
right wing label! and left wing, authoritarian socialists manage to call
themselves "liberal." A other important element modern authoritarian movements
share is hostility toward Christianty and the entire Judaism tradition and a
fascination with the occult. Nazi Germany was the only other authoritarian
movement that showed a fascination with occult belief that equals that
demonstrated by modern American "liberals." Fascination with the occult has
waxed and waned for many centuries in the Western World. This fascination has
been examined by thinkers from Aristotle to modern sociologists. They all
agree about one thing. Obsession with the occult is a quest for personal
power. Again, we see the authoritarian mind at work.
Is this the kind of education you seek? Other than a tiny handful of
schools such as Calvert School, I do not know of many true "liberal" education
schools that are left in America.
