Hi everybody,
It is great to have people introducing themselves! Thanks to all of
you. And isn't it neat to not have the spams? They are still coming in,
but I can stop them now.
For those who are already h-sing, here are some questions designed
to share resources.

1. My favorite website is http://www.efn.org/~light since I live in Lane
County.

2. My favorite homeschool mail order company is Timberdoodle Company. This
is
only my second year homeschooling, but I have used almost exclusively items
offered in this catalog.

3. My favorite homeschooling magazine is HOME EDUCATION MAGAZINE.

4. My top recommendation for beginning homeschoolers would be to enjoy being
with your children. Keep your *school work* as low-key as possible and
play!

I haven't surfed a lot. The Homeschooling in Lane County web site
(http://www.efn.org/~light) has some links under Internet Resources that are
good places to start.

I've bought more from Timberdoodle than any other catalog. I like
Cuisinaire (800-237-0338) for math & science supplies, and the Math Learning
Center in Salem (800-575-8130) is a very good source for pattern blocks,
which I love (250 wooden pieces for $18.00). I like Bright Sparks Super
Learning Tools (Brgh...@aol.com), John Holt's Bookstore
(76702...@compuserve.com), and Activity Resources (510-782-1300).

I subscribe to Home Education Magazine (Home...@aol.com). I also read
Growing Without Schooling (the library has it).

My all-time favorite book is How Children's Learn (revised edition) by John
Holt.

Relax. Minimize schoolwork & maximize life. Be thankful and count your
blessings. Write down the good happenings so you can remember them when you
get discouraged. (That's 4 isn't it? And I wrote these questions!)
