Ordinarily I wouldn't ask for such a favor, but it is my belief
that the Eugene Police Department is making a concerted effort to curtail
activists' freedoms, so I'm hoping for a big turnout of people who are
concerned enough to devote at least a half hour of their time to show the
EPD that they're not only targeting "black-clad anarchists," their
favorite pet-peeve (used to convince the general polpulace that we are
under a severe threat in this town).
Every time we avoid these meetings and only a handful of people show up,
especially if it's the usual folks (Carol Berg, Trish Binder, Tim Lewis,
Cindy Noblitt, me, etc., it just doesn't have the impact needed to convey
a clear message that Eugene's citizens won't tolerate the police dictating
our civil rights. In short, I'm saying, "Please be there!"
In solidarity,
Sherry

Just remember: when you go to court, you are trusting your fate to
twelve people that weren't smart enough to get out of jury duty!
Please attend to express concerns regarding prior restraint of first
amendment rights and use of excessive force.
Thank you.
