Hi all
It's a bit late notice but I thought some folk might be interested in an evening on GM this Monday 10th from 7-9 in the Edinburgh University Chaplaincy, (Next to Potterow which is next Bristo Sq. just up the street from Forest cafe). It's taking place in the weekly University People and Planet meeting slot, but is open to all. Here is the blurb:
A discussion on the rights, wrongs and potential of Genetic Modification. The focus will be on food, and will be participant led, this doesn't mean you need to have facts and figures at your fingertips, just a willingness to talk and listen to others who come. There will be a short presentation on what the technology is and the basic mechanisms by which it works. The main themes will be what it is being used for, who owns and controls it, the agricultural system that it implies, and the political situation in the EU and UK. Come along for everything from an introduction to the issue to voicing passionately held opinions and acquiring new ones!
