Dear Consumer,

We were recently asked if we had done another one of our price comparison surveys.

Initially I thought that there would be no point as I thought Supermarkets had almost dropped fresh organic produce from their stores. However, after nothing better to do on a Saturday night, sad I know, here are the latest results.

It appears that the delivered price of a £12 veg box from us is nearly half that of what it would cost from Tesco.

Depending on what is in the box, our produce even costs less than Tesco conventional produce including 'Value' range.

Price comparison date was Saturday evening 22nd October 2010

Our box items have been tailored to suit what was actually available in store to compare.

Our weights of produce are normally slightly over in the boxes.

Fruit is difficult to compare accurately as it is done by count in Supermarkets

Hey all
The hearty squirrel shop is being evicted on monday. They tried to do it today but as they'd given no notice Moggie (sp?) they let us have until Monday.
We might want to get our stuff out before then, otherwise you have to ask the lawyers to let you in.
Anyone have any ideas of where to go from here?

Stuff we have in the shop:
The food in the cupboard
Our admin things in the filing cabinet
A couple of boxes which have bags of dried fruit in
A bag of washing powder and dish washer tablets which are to be picked up by a customer. She should have got Nairns choc chip oatcakes and they're on the receipt but they didn't get delivered.
not sure what else!

Anyone who wants to get stuff out today come along before 6 which is when I'm leaving! If you have any advice let me know :)

Eekadoo, tis a real pity! In theory I'd be happy to help, but i'm going away for the weekend tomorrow and will only really be able to help on Monday. Do let me know if there's anything needs being done then and i'll pop over.

Regarding where to go from here - i think at the simple, possibly obvious level, we have the choice between operating out of someone's flat or trying to get cupboard space in a shop/room/etc.

Personally I don't think renting space would be worth our while (as we'd probably be charged and have to start thinking about more markup and may just end up as another 'whole foods shop'), however  we can try and sort things through EUSA. Are we still registered as a society? I know there was mutterings earlier in the year that the forms needed to be sent in, did that get done? If we are/do become a society I can think of a couple of possibilities - cupboard space in the pleasance basement for storage (& possibly deliveries, pick up etc - we can rent a room for people to come and pick stuff up on a certain day, etc). We could also think about possibly having a regular stall for people to buy our assortment of stock and make orders of their own - possibly having something in conjunction with fair trade cafe.

Ok, that was just a minor brain storm on my part, I'm happy to look into what sort of storage space eusa can provide should we go that route.

Yo guys. So. Yes. As Esmi said, we are being dramatically evicted from
solidarity goods because the university settlement went bust, and we
need to get in there and get out our stuff before monday. Es has the
keys, so we need to work out a time some of us can grab stuff and a
place to store it. I'm working all weekend so not free until Sunday
night, can anyone get in before? if not, maybe we can do it in stages.
I'll ask around to see if there's anywhere near we could move it to,
do pandp have an office at the mo? or could we ask transition if they
have room?

More generally we're going to need a meeting to chat about next steps
i.e. the points raised by Devin. I'm down in London for the cuts march
from next Tues night and am working Mon/Tues day. I'll be back on Fri
but then working weekend again... so would anyone be up for a meeting
not this Monday afternoon coming but next? Say 3? Don't mind where, I
guess chaplaincy is the obvious. Sorry that's so long away, if people
want to meet more urgently and fill me in obviously that's fine.

On a plus note our last few orders covered themselves cost
wise...we're just beginning to get this thing down.

Anyway, hope you're all well, happy guy fawkes times
Lucy

Hi all

just to say, Moggie didn't want us to have to deal with the lawyers to get in to the shop, so Alice and I got the stuff out of the shop today. It will be in my flat (currently in the Transition garriage), and I'm happy to buy quite a few of the unopened bags of stuff off'f HS if they're not anyone's - if that's OK. Do we have a list with what's been bought etc?

I'm up for a meeting on Monday - I really think we need one (and need Lucy there since she seems to have had quite a portion of the driving force recently!).
We certainly need a new plan of action, but I also think we need to evaluate whether we have enough energy/people to keep this going. We couldn't muster people to sort things out when we actually got evicted, do we have the people and energy to keep things ticking over (without it always falling to the same few people)?
I'm not saying we don't, I'm just saying we need to talk about it. I know I for one don't have the energy or time to be called out at a moment's notice regularly (ie. when deliveries come).

There's still some furniture at the shop. The locks are changing today (Monday 8th) - I don't know what time. The current keys are at the transition office. If anyone has a way of rescuing a big cupboard, small cupboard, couple of desks, coffee table, shelving, mannequins' legs... then feel free to go grab them. They'll probably just be thrown in a skip otherwise. BUt it might be already too late, I don't know.

3pm on monday in the Chaplaincy then?

I'd like to come to the meeting, but have a class until 4pm.  Is there a way I can meet with a group or be introduced to Lucy at some other time?

Hi guys,
A) Es thanks so much for sorting out moving the stuff from hearty to
transition, sorry I couldn't be there to help. And we should
definately discuss the points you raised soon. So..
B) Yes, 4.30 on Monday in the chaplaincy sounds perfect, see you all there.
C) Yo. Hope everyone is well. Am listening to the 'Internationale'
socialist anthem because I was recently mocked for not knowing it.

Peace out xx
