First off, I’d like to thank you for your continued support for being
part of our group! We were established approximately 2 years ago all
because we share the same love interest – the wonderful world of
Etsy. We also have the passion and skills of “everything handmade”!
What makes us stand out from the rest is that we are proud to
represent our Filipino/Filipina culture. Although our group is
predominantly Filipina, we are strongly an EOET – Equal Opportunity
Etsy Team. That simply means that we are happy to welcome friends,
family, and colleagues of diverse background be a part of our team.
++keep in mind this was written on Friday 2/5/10. We beat the Winter

So I sit comfortably in the plane heading back to Chicago from Jersey
City on business. I am training NJ counterparts our responsibilities
before we get - CUT. Yes you heard right, I will be added to the US
statistics of the “Broke and Unemployed”. You are probably wondering
why I am writing this jibberish after so many months of silence. I
want you to know me as an ‘individual’ and not just an ‘administrator’
of the group – and I hope that goes vice-versa. Second, I’ve noticed
a significant number of membership requests in the past year. Whoopie!
Third, this year I plan to have more interaction and participation w/
in our group – sound familiar ?! I am excited to announce that I will
be involved to implement and participate in a few events that will be
launched this year and hopefully years to come! In turn, read on to
find out more about my personal background and how we can all proudly
make Bebot Squad of Etsy a “bahay kubo” name (household name) !
As you may all know, my name is Elaine – born and raised in Detroit
but now living in Chicago. I also own Bastos Girls Greetings – a line
of silly, flirty, rude greeting cards. I previously mentioned that I
was in Jersey City on business. I am an Analyst for Royal Bank of
Scotland in which we maintain, generate, and investigate all accounts
within the bank. It’s a tedious job but I have to pay the bills and
need full benefits. It’s not a lifetime career that’s for sure;
however, I figure during my 5 years of experience it will hopefully
lead me to better opportunities. As I mentioned before, I will be
laid off – but as of today we are unsure of our official Doom’s date.
Reason why I am staying until the end is because I vested myself with
this company to where I’ve accumulated a few months worth of
“severance pay” . I am looking forward to it! What are my plans you
ask? Aside from enjoying the time I have with my Love, Art, and pooch,
Mikka, I plan to take a few classes such as Letter Press and to be
certified in Microsoft Office. Gosh knows, I have a lot on my plate
right now but doing this will assist me to fulfill my artistic side
and at the same time help me obtain MS certification to build my
resume. Most importantly, I plan to be active with Bastos Girls
Greetings and participate in more events within the Bebot Squad Street
Team…
Speaking of Street Teams – which leads me to points 2 and 3, I would
like to welcome those that recently joined our group! We now have
approximately 27 people! That is pretty impressive for being on the
quiet side of the spectrum. On this year’s agenda, I am excited to
announce that we will be the MAIN Sponsor for an event planned for
early Spring 2010! EBS (Etsy Bebot Squad) collaborated with another
group to host our First Annual Bazaar. More details will follow in a
separate discussion. This will open new opportunities and you will
have the option to participate as well!
With that said I hope you are just as excited as I am! Don’t hesitate
to join this discussion and get to know each other. Tell us what’s up
w your lives or simply say “hello”! If you would like to lead a
project or have suggestions feel free to speak out!
Ingat ! (take care)
Elaine
