Hi all,

We're experiencing problems with Treasury search, and will be
disabling it shortly. We regret any inconvenience that this will
cause.

Is this something that should be back later today, or do you expect it to be down for a longer time?

It seems the search is working fine on Etsy itself, but the API is of course returning a 503 when requesting the same information.

Thanks,
Julian

I think I read somewhere that they've totally overhauled the treasury
system including db ... like you, I hope that this is only a short-
term problem. A timeframe would be greatly appriciated so that we can
advise visitors to our sites/tools.

Well, I was trying to decide if I should do a workaround like letting people make widgets by inputting an ID directly. However it's tough to know as no information was provided to us.

It's difficult to rely upon the Etsy API when they do things like disable major portions at noon on Friday, then everyone leaves for the weekend. My business is not based around a Mon-Fri schedule.

Glad I didn't just say, release an iPhone App based around Etsy's Treasury.

As Etsy is in the US and we're on the other side of the world, a
couple of hours notice doesn't help us as we're asleep when it all
went down so we woke to an issue that was there for several hours ...
no time to prep but instead damage control! 24 hours notice would've
been better so that at least we could've been awake when it happened.

I agree with you on the app comment - we had to shut down not only the
treasury pages but also all other treasury features on the site.

We lost many hours of dev time (3 days of night-time coding + weekend)
with the major changes to the sandbox writing huge chunks of code to
cater for it. We're almost finished and are thinking of releasing it
as a dev sync tool. I wonder if anyone would be interested if we stuck
it up on our website since Etsy took away this...

This is a significant feature that disappeared suddenly last Friday.

Is it possible to let us know whether if it's coming back ever, and if so, an estimate of when?

Telling Etsy/our customers "It's not working and I have no idea when or if it ever will be again" isn't ideal.

Thanks,
Julian

I noticed the IDs for new Treasuries are now 19 characters instead of 24...

just a note, in case anyone else out there has code expecting a valid ID to be 24.

Oops, lest my silly statement go uncorrected, I should note they're variable length.

It would be good to know how to validate a Treasury list ID.

Thanks,
Julian

Hi All,

We re-enabled Treasury search via the Etsy API late this afternoon.

You may notice that Treasury ids no longer have a constant length.
They are now the same ones that are used on the website's treasury
urls. They have a variable length, usually around 20 characters, with
a mix of numbers and upper and lowercase letters. However, the old
Treasury ids with a constant length of 24 will still work when
retrieving a single Treasury, but you'll be given the new id in the
return object.

The maximum number of Treasuries that can be returned at one time via
the findAllTreasuries method is now 25 for performance reasons.
Additionally, the detail_level parameter is being ignored and Treasury
methods will return up to 16 listings per a Treasury. However, the
fields parameter can be used to limit what parameters are returned, as
in the other methods of the Etsy API.

We do apologize for any inconvenience. We've had to make these
changes due to necessary infrastructure changes, but on the up side,
we think you'll find the speed of response to be much better than in
the past.
