
The dead were Normadiah Lasik, 69, Ali Hassan, 50, Jaafar, 49, Mohd Ikbal Jaafar, 15, Sara Gunung, 37, Norma Gunung, 51, and Yusnizan Yusof, 22. The injured were Bah Anjang Besar Anjang, 39, and Serry Priary Suri, 15. The last victim was found at 1.20 this morning.
“Search and rescue operations were stopped at 1.50am,” Bernama quoted Cameron Highlands OCPD DSP Wan Zahari Wan Busu as saying today.
The two injured victims are in a stable condition.
About 250 rescuers comprising the police, firemen, a SMART team and Rela volunteers helped in the search for the victims.
All the 60 families in the landslide-hit village have been moved to the Brinchang multipurpose hall.
In the 5.45pm incident yesterday, mud and earth loosened by heavy rain buried three houses in the village built on a hill slope.
