Perhaps members have felt that the political, social, and economic topics tend to divide us, whereas we can feel more connected and in agreement when we discuss other topics.  Last night, I met with two guys from around where I live and we discussed the political compass.  One of them pointed out that you can really just ignore the left/right axis because it isn't that important.  And he's right - it isn't important until and unless we've all agreed to live under a heavier hand of a government - if we ever did that, then yeah, we'd need to decide whether that govt should be more fascist or more socialist.

I think people who want big strong government with a heavy hand are very rare.  Perhaps ETP is drifting away from the kind of discussions that are about what that heavy hand should be used for - because we don't want to control other people's lives.

Why has the ETP forum strayed from political, social, and economic
topics? It seems that we're seeing more and more posts that are other
than political, social, and economic subject matter. Just curious as
to what others think.
