guys,

now we are in week 5..almost to the end of the week 5.thus we are behind the schedule..there are few things we have to do this week :

1) test for material

2) collect the material 

3)finalise about of material  n etc

Dr Noorhana a bit busy, thus we need to work on our own. We have to prove to her we can do this project. ill upload a few slides later that contain details about our project. Thus hope u guys can work smart and achieve the dateline. no worry, we will solve any problems, arising matters together. If we couldnt make it by this week, thus we will suffer more after this.

noted that. about the soap water that I propose, there is same principle that was used in ong seperator(creating emulsion), it is caused by baffling and agitation. For viscosity, it is affected by heat too(crude oil). other than that, i'll go with ahmed for that tomorrow.

For chitosan, there are many types. For health, dieting, fertilizer, organic treatment. Some in liquid, some powder and tablets form. Mostly ranging around RM40-60 (enough for test run I think).
I've gotten some supplier contacts, will try to ask which type is suitable for our project.
If can get contacts from USM or any friends who did research on chitosan would be better...

i ask one of the electronic company in TEC, the price of the silicon wafer (display on his table) is more than a proce of Myvi car..huhu..so we not going to use dat :)

 Do u think our system must be floating?? becoz try to think, if we make it on the ship, then why we have to pump n filter it? got boomers, n skimmers...now we hve the idea, but how to make this thing efficient??help me guys..just now im doing the drawing..then i was thinking why shud i pump the sea water instead i made this unit movable like skimmer..but how to do it??? and dont want to plagiarize skimmers design or concept :(

that's difficult. lol. but pumping produce more velocity than skimmer right? some problem with pumping inside our unit:

1) turbulant flow(unsteady flow) - hard to maintain abosorbtion and what not

2) might create vortex inside the separator(unit 2)

may i propose, we use a bucket system.insted of conveyor belt, we put something inside the bucket, and make a hole, micro hole for water to fall, and let the oil trap inside..then we get the oil and filter it in our unit? by doing this we can attach it to the movable unit..concept - Back hoe - the front bucket..how???

how about to make the oil remain in the bucket, we apply chitosan powder or paddy husk spray into the bucket or soap or whtever..how?? need fast.. ill attach the bucket system

i think guys the previous design is ok .. we can control the conveyor speed as well as if there is a turbelance in the fluid flow also we are able to control it by changing the value of some parameters like the pipe diameter or the flow rate or the power of the pump  ... even if we make the conveyor moving slowly and we control also the fluid behavior ..i think this is design is very good ... also it seems to be a real project that can be applied in the large scale.... the design of the tow units is very amazing ... and regarding the chitosan if it is expensive we can still think about some other material ..

in unit 1 ... if we can not control the turbulence of the fluid when it flows from the pipe to the conveyor belt .. we can solve this by making a small layer of the soft  Sponge at the top of the conveyor this will reduce the dispersion  significantly...  what u think ??

yes. we stick to the design but we have to design a very superhydrophobic belt / oleophilic one... check this video.. wht do u think bout this concept..perhaps u hve bteer idea as this concept as ur reffrnce
