We meet SV on Friday, Mr Faizzairi. He hopes to see all of us in the coming meeting with him.

During last meeting, he just ask our progress and gave us some hints and ideas on how to construct the iron and iron board.

Weekly meeting with him will stay at 3.30pm every Wednesday.

We will still update Dr Lee about our updates.

The log book we just need to give Mr Faizzari sign and we keep it in a file for reference in the end. I will take back Week1-3 logbook from Dr Lee..

To those who haven let Mr Faizzari sign week 4 log book, pls bring along with week 5 log book next meeting and let him sign. He wanna see team work among us.

Some updates on the project

The iron, we are currently finding shop to help us customize it.
The iron board, Hairi is finding the best shop to help customize it.

Next week, we have to start doing progress report as the dateline is Week 7.
Progress report guideline is inside the guideline. Please read.

Monday, we will discuss who do which part and finish it ASAP. :)

at the mean time, for the EE part.. i guess i can try building it at of coz a cheaper price than this..

Electronic component and Installation - RM180
Power supply - RM30
Microcontroller Programming without Source Code - RM80
Electronic Circuit Design RM180 with hand drawing diagram

1) Electronic component and installation....
i ady have the sensor which cost around rm25 and i can solder it onto vero board myself, but it will be bulky (around size of a palm).. we can do PCB for free at EE lab, but i need to make the schematic from a software called "Eagle" which i dun have.. and it takes batch and alot time for them to make it...

2) Power supply - I was trying to make it.. All the components alredi there, but seems not working properly.. need to find out why...

3) I learn this before during 2nd 2nd, still have the programmer, but my programming skills not that good.. they are just programming the timer, i can try to do it (hope i rmb how to do it) .. But in our final report and presentation, we need the source code as proof that we do it, the fella is charging more for just the programming codess.. zz

4) electronic circuit design.. i have no idea what is this, but from what he said that day, i tink he means putting all the components onto veroboard, which i can do it myself...

Mechi part need to consult ME ppl.. they told me the ME part outcome will just have two wires, which will be connected to 9V battery,,, if we put battery positive, the motor move down itself, if negative, it move up itself...

EE part i can try do, ME part?

I think for that battery part is just like the power window u told me last friday. I need to try that one with a motor.for gear system as well, i'll check it first.

i have made the power supply work.. now the power supply can work with the sensor...
i'll be trying the micro controller programming part in a few days to one week time.. :) (need to refresh how to use it) :)

yeayea!!! this is the mechanism i was talking about.. which uses worm gear!!!

worm gear is the gear that locks when no power supply to it...

haha,...

btw, the mechanism is exactly the one we need, but the one on lelong.com seems abit weird... looks like it's just the motor?

yes ..... it's just the motor. no gears....for motors, we may try all sorts of motors - wiper, power window, tamiya car etc.
but to have that worm gears....need to know where to find it

i know where to get worm gears... last sem, i join cheme car, my team went to buy tamiya worm gear set at 1 utama... it's just the worm gear box, other than that, we need the casing and other gears which might need ME ppl to do..

in this case same mechanism as power window, but must be strong to lift up the iron.. :)

this is the size of transformer

as u can see, there are three board..

TOP board - provide power supply from 230V - 9V output

SECOND board - light sensor circuit + relay

THIRD/ BOTTOM board - provide power supply from 230V - 5V output

The transformer rating is 230V  AC input to 20V AC output, and then as seen from top and bottom board, there are rectifiers and capacitors that step it down to 9V and 5V respectively...

The sensor can work in 9V and also 5V ..
The difference is for 9V, the inductor inside the relay charge up faster by 2 or 3 seconds compared to 5V...

9V is for the motor that we gonna use...
5V can be used on sensor and microcontroller too
