Given that 4.1 has new features (ex: Speech Bubbles) how will we handle this in the showcase where someone with a 4.0 version of Etoys downloads or tries to launch within the browser a 4.1 project using a 4.0 Etoys?

Good point Stephen.

The solution seems however quite obvious:

Put warnings wherever practical explaining the project needs the up to date software.

Downloading the latest version seems to be as easy and free as always.

Is there any reason for anyone to wish to keep using Etoys 4.0?

Is there something that is saved with the project that indicates the version that could be extracted and displayed on the web page?

The manifest (which is in all Etoys) project files, specifies the version (ex:Squeak-Version: etoys4.1).
So the code on the web site can tell the difference.

But we still have two tasks:
1) Modify the Web Site server side software to display the version of Etoys used to create the project (and display appropriate "warnings").

2) Write the text for the appropriate warnings to be used on the web site.

Steve,

Make an issue.  This should be easy.
