The LSA has organized a webinar based on the recent open-access article by Garrett and Harris (2022) (vínculo al PDF) for this coming Wednesday at 12:30 PM Eastern Time. Given that a lot of folks on the list engaged in documentary work and community-based work, I thought I'd forward the information — including the registration link (all of it can be found below) — and say that you don't have to be an LSA member to register and attend.

Join us for our next webinar on Wednesday, September 28, between 3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., U.S. Eastern Daylight Time (12:30 p.m.–2:00 p.m. PDT).

Entitled “Tenure, promotion, and academic review in documentary linguistics,” this webinar features a panel discussion of ways to approach the academic review process for linguists working on language documentation. The panel includes two recently tenured linguists involved with language documentation, Kayla Begay (Cal Poly Humboldt) and Jorge Rosés Labrada (U Alberta), and the authors of a new paper in Language, “Assessing scholarship in documentary linguistics,” Andrew Garrett (UC Berkeley) and Alice Harris (U Mass Amherst). The webinar will be conducted in ASL with simultaneous translation. There will be a question and answer session following the presentation.
