ii SEMINÁRIO INTERNACIONAL

VIVA LÍNGUA VIVA!

The second edition of the International Seminar Viva Língua Viva will take place November 22-25, 2022 in Belém/PA, with the theme: REVITALIZATION OF LANGUAGES: Why and how to do it? The event is promoted by the Brazilian Association of Linguistics (ABRALIN) and will be organized by the Federal University of Pará and the Emílio Goeldi Museum of Pará. It will be held in person in the city of Belém-PA.

Viva Lingua Viva II is a space to draw attention to the current situation of diminishing vitality of many of the native languages of Brazil, and draw attention to the need for investment in and valorization of the processes of linguistic revitalization. The event aims to give visibility and share experiences regarding the various initiatives underway in the country and worldwide to preserve and revitalize these languages, highlighting the importance of ensuring their survival. In the current global context, and particularly in Brazil, the languages of native peoples are being lost at an increasing rate. This is an urgent and necessary discussion.

The event will bring together members of indigenous communities, teachers, students and researchers from universities, museums and other academic and scientific institutions to discuss, exchange and foster the development of actions for the preservation, revitalization and revival of languages of indigenous peoples and minoritized languages.

The event will feature conference presentations, roundtables, conversations groups, workshops, paper and poster sessions, cultural exhibitions and other activities. Follow the updates on the event page https://viva.abralin.org/eventos/evento-1/ or on the ABRALIN page https://www.abralin.org/site/evento/viva-lingua-viva-2022/. Stay tuned for upcoming news and do not miss out on the chance to participate!
