The kidney beans melt in your mouth in this recipe, they are that soft. She makes the masala separately for this homestyle Punjabi rajma and then adds it to the pressure cooked rajma and then pressure cooks it again.
1- Rinse and soak 1 & 1/2 cups (300 grams) of kidney beans (rajma) overnight in 4 to 5 cups water. In the morning, the beans would be much bigger in size. Drain all the water in which the rajma was soaked and rinse the beans.
4- While the rajma is cooking, make the masala. Put a pan on medium heat and add 1 & 1/2 tablespoon oil to it. You can use any oil, I have used avocado oil here. Add 1 finely grated large onion (200 grams) to the pan. You can also puree the onions or very finely chop using a food processor.
11- Once the 30 minutes are up, let the pressure from the pressure cooker release naturally. This happens alongside while you make the masala so by the time the masala is done, the rajma has also pressure cooked and the pressure cooker is ready to be opened.
15- After 10 minutes, turn off heat and let the pressure release naturally. Now, once the pressure has released, open the cooker, and turn on the heat again on low-medium. Let the rajma simmer on low-medium heat for 15 minutes. towards the last 5 minutes, add in 1/4 teaspoon garam masala.
16- Tastes test and adjust salt as needed, I added 1/4 teaspoon more here. You can also add more water as the rajma is simmering to make it thinner and adjust the consistency as needed. This rajma makes quite thick rajma so keep that in mind. It will also continue to thicken as it cools.
So this might be just me, the one who grew up eating the best rajma around Delhi but in my humble opinion, rajma never gets to that melt in mouth consistency in the Instant Pot. However, if you are not so picky about the super soft rajma consistency, then yes you can make this in the Instant Pot.
Pressure cook on bean/chili mode for 30 to 35 minutes and let the pressure release naturally. For the second time, pressure cook on high pressure for 5 minutes. Let it simmer on saut for 10 to 15 minutes for the final step.
1. How would you cook the kidney beans in an instant pot? Not familiar with whistles.
2. Can I finely mince the 3/4 tsp. each garlic and ginger? Not familiar with garlic-ginger paste.

Mumbai: Diljit Dosanjh is geared up to play a superhero in his upcoming film Super Singh but the Punjabi star says it was difficult to find producers to back the ambitious project. After Bollywood having encashed on the popularity of superhero films, Punjabi cinema too seems to have been bitten by this bug.
The film is about a village boy from Punjab, living in Canada and how his life changes after he unknowingly attains superpowers. He embarks on a journey that helps him discover the true meaning of love, life and courage. For Diljit, donning the superhero suit was exciting in the beginning but he soon realised that it was not a cake walk. Wearing the costume was a bit uncomfortable. My excitement to wear a superhero suit fizzled after the first few attempts. It was heavy, it was difficult to breathe in that.
Telugu Indian Idol successfully completed the Superheroes round as well. After the auditions and theatre rounds, the three judges Thaman, Nithya Menen, and Karthik picked 12 contestants who are now undergoing the danger zone. The voting lines are open and the viewers can vote for their favorite contestant in taking them to the next round. The tenth episode witnessed the performances of 6 singers.
Participant 1: Srinivas
Srinivas crooned Bham Bham Bhole from the film Indra. He sang it very well, with the good support of the band and chorus. The three judges liked his performance and also recollected the memories with music director Mani Sharma for coming up with great tunes.
Participant 2: Manya
Maanya who surprised everyone with mass and class songs in earlier rounds crooned Mayya Mayya from Gurukanth film. She sang it so well like a professional singer. The judges were also impressed by her versatility. Thaman praised her guts to pick a song like this. Since it is Superheroes round, she revealed that her father is her superhero on the personal front. On the professional front, SPB is her superhero.
Participant 5: Jaskaran Singh
Jaskaran Singh crooned Butta Bomma from Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo. Thaman who composed the song heaped praises on the Punjabi singer who is putting a great effort into learning Telugu. Nithya Menen joined SRC and Jaskaran to shake the leg for this special song on the stage. Later, Karthik called it a Seetimaar performance.
