Free Minds, Free People
Dear Curtis,
Free Minds, Free People is pleased to announce that Jitu Brown, Educator Organizer for the Kenwood Oakland Community Organization in Chicago, will be our Friday morning Keynote speaker. Over the last several years, Jitu has taken a lead role in city-wide fights for education justice. A Chicago South Side native, he is an organizer, hip hop artist and teacher in an alternative high school for the formerly incarcerated.
If you have not heard Jitu speak before, please consider participating in a webinar Tuesday evening hosted by Save our Schools on school closings. Jitu and other leading education activists will discuss the impact of school closings on communities. The webinar is a fundraiser for the Journey for Justice 2, in which activists from across the country will travel to Washington, DC to testify at a hearing on Jan. 29 about school closings.
