What is Ethiopian Timket, or Epiphany?
==================================
A week ago, I explicated the True spiritual meaning of the holiday of Christmas that it is about beginning The Journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem by The Blessed Virgin Mary to deliver The Christ Child who would save All humanity from the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual bondage, or slavery.
Today, January 19, 2014, in Gregorean Calendar, or Tir 11, 2006, in Ethiopian Calendar, we celebrate The Ethiopian Timket, or Epiphany holiday.
What is The True spiritual significance of Timket holiday?
Timket is The Day on which Jesus of Nazareth Made The Journey from Nazareth not to Bethlehem, but To River Jordan. It is very important to see and understand the difference between The Journey made by The Blessed Virgin Mary, and her Blessed Son, Jesus of Nazareth:
The Blessed Virgin Mary made The Journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem;
Jesus of Nazareth on The Day of Timket made The Journey from Nazareth To River Jordan
Unless we truly understand the True spiritual meaning of the two Journeys, Journey by The Mother and Her Child, we might miss the whole point about the holiday of Timket/Epiphany.
It is the Duty and Responsibility of The Blessed Virgin Mary to make The Journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem to deliver The Christ Child who would save all humanity from all kinds of bondage, or slavery. She made an arduous Journey to Bethlehem, because it is only in Bethlehem that The Christ Child is delivered. As I explicated in my previous articles, metaphorically speaking "Journey To Bethlehem" means Diligently seeking The Truth. And there is only One Truth, and this Truth is The Almighty God Himself.
So, when we diligently seek The Almighty God through prayers and repentance, He gives us The Christ Child - The deliverer and The Saviour. This means that first Christ is given to us as a baby, and we have to nourish the baby until he becomes of age to take over everything Himself. This is exactly what The Blessed Virgin Mary did - She made a Journey to Bethlehem, and The Almighty God enabled her to deliver The Christ Child.
She nourished The Christ Child until He came of age to take over everything.
When Jesus of Nazareth was 30 years old, He was ready to make The Journey of his God-given Mission - The Proclamation of Liberation.
To do this, Jesus of Nazareth made The Journey from Nazareth to River Jordan to be baptised by John The Baptist. Again, unless we understand the spiritual meaning of this Journey, we might miss the whole point.
Metaphorically speaking, River Jordan is the place of purification and total separation. Purification of what, you might ask. It is to be purified from physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual contaminations. And what about separation, you might ask. It is The place where you separate yourself once and for all from materialistic and egotistic way of life. In other words, it is the place where you make The Final Decision to sacrifice yourself to liberate The Whole Humanity. In a nutshell, it is The Place where you completely deny yourself in order to liberate The Whole Humanity.
To deny oneself means to completely separate yourself from Egotistic Outlook. This means that whatever you do, you do it not for the benefit of yourself, but for the benefit of the Whole Humanity. Since you are part of Humanity, you cannot be totally happy unless The whole Humanity is happy. When you come to the true understanding of this truth, you can be baptised at The River Jordan.
So, River Jordan is The Place of No Turning Back Once You have made The Decision To Serve humanity. It is The Place of Purification and Total Separation from materialistic and Egotistic Way Of Life.
After The Baptism at River Jordan, No Turning Back for personal issues whatsoever, whether it is family issues, tribal or ethnic issues, national issues, or whatever it is, except diligently moving forward to bring Freedom, Equality, Justice, Peace, and Love to all Humanity.
This is exactly what Jesus of Nazareth did on The Day of Timket/Epiphany. He Never went back to Nazareth for his own personal issues or personal benefits after he was baptised at River Jordan.
Indeed, River Jordan is the place of Exit from materiality, carnality, vanity, and Egotistic way of life To Universality and True spirituality.
If we truly understand this true spiritual meaning of Timket/Epiphany, then it truly becomes a joyous Christian holiday.
Thanks be to The Almighty God Our Father.
