Label subtrees based on broader taxonomic classifications

Hi,

I have the following task - which I am not sure how to solve within ete.

Basically, I want to visualize a fairly dense taxonomy (all birds and all mammals), as a circular tree. And since it wouldn't be feasible to render all the species names, I'd like to at least render the family or order - outside of the tree, as an "outer circle" if you will.

But as mentioned, I have no clue how that would work. Any pointers would be appreciated.
