By my reckoning the discontinuation of Google Usenet peering is set for
the day of September 11131, 1993. This calculation is based on the given
date of February 22, 2024. Perhaps it can be enshrined as a hacker
holiday?

Here is how I reckoned the September date:

A = epoch seconds of : September 1, 1993 00:00:00
B = epoch seconds of : February 22, 2024 00:00:00
C = B - A
D = C / 60 / 60 / 24 : (days = seconds / minutes / hours)

A = 746841600
B = 1708560000
C = 961718400
D = 11131.0 <== total days of Eternal September

Would some one double check the calculation of September dating then
confirm or correct this reckoning?

Something is off by one...

Probably because there is no 0th of a month?
Maybe sdate glitches?

I'd be hesitant. Let the results unfold and the cards play out; when all
is said and done, we all may look at the results and come to a conclusion.

Oh from that link I got why this is called Eternal September.

I don't think Eternal September ends when GG cuts their connection.

But `sdate` can use a different epoch setting per option (and maybe
later added to the source) for the post GG era.
