I don't expect anybody to do anything. If you were going to do
something, I have no idea what it might be.

I've pointed out in other threads that Giganews does not prevent one of
its users from committing a specific type of abuse. The user is Ubi the
shithead. The abuse involves re-injection of an article written by
someone else with all headers intact but with a change in crosspost. The
article is re-injected with a new Message-ID but it's always a variation
on the original Message-ID.

Because the headers are intact, the injection headers the orginal
article are preloaded. This is nonstandard but Giganews does not prevent
this.

Path is a real header from Giganews. Comparing to the Path header, it's
quite obvious that the injection headers were preloaded.

I didn't write these.

Message-ID: <Upeapd$1m4u2$1...@dont-email.me>
Message-ID: <Upb4un$11qrb$1...@dont-email.me>

Note that the Message-IDs created by Ubi the shithead use Ray's domain
name without permission.

In recent past, one of you had to adjust filters because Ubi the
shitheads antics versus another user lead to a false positive NoCeM,
given two articles with identical bodies but different Message-IDs.

I have had zero success over the years trying to get Giganews to TOS
their user committing abuse through their News site. I've filed abuse
reports when other people were forged. I've filed abuse reports when
I've been forged. Giganews will not crack down on this kind of targeted
abuse committed through their News site.

I've never noticed that Giganews was any major source of spam, so I
don't expect the Google Groups spammers to pay for Giganews accounts to
substitute for the loss of Google Groups.

This is a different kind of abuse.

Bizarre.

I presume it's just so he can attribute words and opinions to you
that you don't agree with? He's going to a lot of trouble.

He truly deserves the name shithead.

He literally reposted two of my articles. He didn't change my words. He
changed the crosspost. Generally, I don't crosspost.

He's been doing this for over a decade against various people. It's
abuse. Giganews has never prevented this.

It's not just forgery but nonstandard due to preloaded injection
headers, but Giganews isn't using a News server that implements
compliance with that standard.

I wish Giganews took it seriously but they don't. He should have been
TOSsed the first time he did this over a decade ago, but he wasn't.

What on earth is he trying to achieve? I don't get it.

He's notorious for crossposting in order to drag ongoing flame wars from
one newsgroup into another. He literally ruined rec.arts.tv.sf with his
crossposting antics and, his other game, redirecting followups using
Followup-To, typically to rec.arts.sf.tv. There are no regulars left in
that newsgroup with any interest in discussing science fiction on
television.

In this instance, I guess he thinks most followups should have been
crossposted to begin with. He's attempting to moderate unmoderated
Usenet. Well, I'm the author. I chose not to crosspost in followup most
of the time. Ubi doesn't approve and pulls this stunt.

But I really don't know.

He's also a technical troll. The purpose of the preloaded injection
headers is to make it appear that the repost had been injected through
the original News site even though it was injected through Giganews.

So the target is as much the group as it is you, hitting two birds
with one stone - that makes twisted sense.

Yes, Giganews is as uncooperative as possible in this respect.
But Ubi is stupid, which allows me to cancel these forgeries as long as
he continues being stupid ;-)

I've added a filter for nocem, which "caught" two this morning. Could you
please take a look and see if you feel these are faked (I believe they
are), or if I'm causing false positives:

<n1c435ab-2b9a-419e...@googlegroups.com>
<n1c435ab-2b9a-419e...@googlegroups.com>

It helps to have extra eyes on things in case my brain is off. Thanks!

Yes, I realize now it's only one article. It shows up in my logs twice as
two of my servers logged it coming in from different directions (peers).

Both are forgeries. Ubi re-injected the same article twice, with two new
Message-IDs.

From: tmc...@gmail.com
References: <61c435ab-2b9a-419e...@googlegroups.com>

appears on each of them.

In both instances, the preloaded injection headers associated with
Google Groups appear, which is nonstandard as both were re-injected
through Google Groups.

Is it simply possible to filter these by noting the mismatch between
Path and the injection headers, or by comparing article bodies to note
the reinjection?

We both made the same mistake :)

Yes, that is what I have done (checking headers mismatch). I'll keep this
filter in place (it will be included in i2pn2 nocems) unless someone
informs me of false positives.
