Hi, trying out Usenet has been on my to-do list for over 25 years;
thought I should get around to ticking that off at some point. Glad to

access about a dozen (the eternal-september newsgroups) unless, when you

Do you see them?
If so, everything is fine.
If not, you need to configure your reader to always use authentication
and then reload the group list.

You have to check "Always request authentication when connecting to
this server".

The open the group subscription menu and select "Refresh".
