Hi!
I finally took the step of joining Usenet. While Usenet was around when
I first played with internet, I heard about it only when the web
reached 2.0. I guess this is as good a time as any to explore it.
Greetings, everyone!

PS: This is also a test of my client (claws) settings. TLS especially.

New here too, just been here a few weeks, though I have browsed Usenet
before. The spam and quietness of many groups is a problem, but I
find the technology logical.

Then speak up in the group(s). Some have a lot of lurkers who come out
to comment (or troll :/) if there's something there.

(Or it's just quiet because of time of year -- not a whole lot happening
up here in the frozen north by way of "gardening" for example)

Oh! Is it that time of the year already? It doesn't feel like winter
here. You could be forgiven to think that you are in a sauna.

Yip. Here the radio says snow chains are a good idea. Luckily I can
stay inside.

> It doesn't feel like winter here.

We have enough of that here. But I suffer more if it is hot. I'm more
an inhabitant of the nets than meat-space, so it's ok-ish.

Cold and dry is fine, then I like longer walks outside juggling ideas
without having a keyboard at hand, but we are in the wet fresh snow
phase which is just ugly.

I don not even want to think about that.

It's not freezing here but it is pretty chilly.

Technically freezing (as in below 0 C or 32 F outdoors) here but luckily
I'm indoors so it's not so bad.

Will do! Just have to find my niche. Maybe I should just head out
and go to the pub instead.

Technically? That is below freezing. Stay warm if you're going outside!
