OK, so I'm working on revitalizing my *old* Windows XP Outlook Express news
reader to access USENET again, as Google Groups ends in (roughly) 3 days.

So far, I've realized 2 things: 1) I need to establish a "dummy" email
account to get this sucker to fly, one that actually exists yet has the sole
purpose of "drawing flies" from the spam net crawler machines. (The old
parents' email is the only one that *still works* in Outlook Express!)

2) I need to figure out how to get "alt.dreams" on this server. Any
suggestions?

In addition to that line, I found it helpful to put the following
line in my .slrnrc file:

nnrpaccess news.eternal-september.org MY_USERNAME MY_PASSWORD

But, of course, one must be comfortable with one's username/password
being plaintext in a file, which was the case on my machine.

The email address isn't required to exist. You are allowed to invent
one, but it must end with .invalid. See
