Hi.

Maybe I'm too dumb.

I can post to grouprequests.
I have configured authentication in Thunderbird (SSL on port 563).
I have stored username and password in Thunderbird.

But I still can't see any other newsgroups than the eternal-september ones.

what do I do wrong?

As I have just learned, I needed to Refresh the group list.

you have just gone through the rite of passage for eternal september
users. I think I go through that every year when I remember I again
haven't checked usenet in a while.

Every time groups are added or removed from a server, the local group
list in the subscription menu must be updated.

I keep a local copy of the active file. I have my newsreader set to
download a fresh one every 7 days. I don't think it's necessary to do it
any more often than that.

Ah!! Right. You are not just talking about removing/adding groups on
your computer but from the Server that you connect to.
