The general directions and rules for the 2010 Eternal Ink Prose and
Poetry Contests are given below:
This year's theme for our annual contests will be HOLIDAYS AND
FESTIVALS OF JOY. Any of our major holidays or religious
celebrations
could be the subject focus for the poetry or prose entries. Besides
the
obvious holidays, such as Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter,
remember that many Christian churches honor Ash Wednesday, Lent,
Pentecost, Epiphany and others. This theme focus centers on praise,
thanksgiving, and celebration--with a festive and grateful tone.
We ask that each contributor submit no more than three poems and/or
one prose piece, typically a devotion, meditation, or essay. The
poems
should be no more than 30 lines, and the prose should be no more than
500-600 words. Writings should be based on Christian principles and
Bible wisdom.
All submissions should be typed and submitted by the author in the
body of an email. Please avoid attachments. Every submission should
have a title, by-line with author's name, and include the name, email,
and
address of the author after the body of the work. Submissions should
be
emailed to Mary-Ellen Grisham,
megi...@charter.net
There will be first, second, and third place winners as well as
honorable
mentions in both categories of writings, and those who submit work
will
be notified of the winners in Eternal Ink. Winners will get a
special
notifying email also. The deadline for submissions is November 12,
2010. Allowing several weeks for the judges' selection process, we
should have the results of the contest by the first December issue of
Eternal Ink.
In addition to the book award for winners in both categories, the
winning entries will appear in an edition of Eternal Ink, and winning
authors will be encouraged to send materials to other editions of
Eternal Ink. The winning submissions will also be posted on our
Google Groups internet site and our Eternal Ink Blog.
