With help from Rahmanuddin (nani...@gmail.com), I prepared the invitation for January 23, 2011. Assuming that all volunteers and organizers are in agreement, this email may be freely forwarded to your contacts, shared across social networking sites, etc.

10 Years of Wikipedia Celebrations

On January 15, 2011, Wikipedia will turn 10. The free encyclopedia anyone can edit will celebrate its tenth anniversary. Around the world, people are organizing events and online activities to commemorate the day. In Hyderabad, a group of wikipedians have planned for a program for those interested in knowing about Wikipedia or would like to contribute to it.

Program
1. Forenoon Session
   a) Invocation – A short video talk by Jimmy Wales (Founder of Wikipedia)
   b) Cake cutting and distribution of Wikipedia merchandise
   c) Telugu Wikipedia (te-wiki)
       i) FAQs - Why wiki? What is it? How to contribute? (approx. 20 mins for session; 10 mins for Q&A)
       ii) How to edit wikipedia articles (approx. 20 mins for demo; 10 mins for Q&A)
       iii) Hands-on session (30 mins)

2. Afternoon Session
   a) Wikimedia Foundation – Introduction to Wikipedia, Wiktionary, Wikisource, Wikiquote, Wikibooks, Wikisource, Wikimedia Commons, etc.
   b) English Wikipedia (en-wiki)
       i) How to edit articles? (approx. 20 min for demo; 10 min for Q&A)
       ii) Hands-on session (30 mins)
   c) Introduction to Wikipedia Academy

Forenoon Session: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Afternoon Session: 02:00 PM – 04:00 PM
