Ihave got an problem with model. The model of our project gets corrupted randomly when we are trying to synchronize it. Then when I am trying to open model I get message "Data in file an unnamed file is corrupt and needs to be manually recovered". I tried to recover backup, open with audit, open with only one opened workset, opening last synchronized local file with no progress and same error. We have had to go back to previous file witch opens but when I am trying to open it with audit I also get same error. The journal file points gives an messeage "An ArchiveException 105 is raised at line 1209 of Archive\DataDict.cpp: can't fix the ordering of container filed m_hasOpenLockControl." right before "Data in file an unnamed file is corrupt and needs to be manually recovered". Is there any option to fix the model? Revit 2017.

As we tried to open a model, an error message appeared saying that the model misses to much elements to open. One of my collegue read that it could be because of a corrupted family. How can I find in my model the corrupted family?

Sorry to hear that you are dealing with a model that's displaying missing elements. A missing element can be any part of your Revit model, and often indicates some level of file corruption. I'd suggest attempting to open your Revit file with Audit checked, as this will open and check all elements in the model, and attempt to automatically repair any issues.

I had another issue with another Revit model. On thursday september 19th, I tried to open a case with a zip file of a ETransmit (we have some Revit links and for this project, I thought it would be better to include everything so Autodesk can have a better look at the model's issue). I think the zip file prevented my case to open... How can I make sure that they received my case?

If your model will not open with Audit, that's indicative that there is some substantial corruption in your model. While opening normally, Revit will only process what it needs, thus why many firms make use of a very lightweight starting view. Audit, however, goes through all of the elements in the model and does several checks on the integrity of the data. If Audit is failing, you've likely hit the point where a large amount of data in your model is corrupt.

I also suggest for all actively worked on projects to run Audit at least once every two weeks, as it's intended to find small issues and repair them automatically before they mount up and become a major issue.

Dave is right, it's very likely data corruption in the model. Whenever I got that "too many missing elements" error, it's almost certainly some families in the model have become corrupt, and because we placed hundreds of their instances in the model, now Revit has too many things it can't generate.

To find which families are corrupt, try File > Save As > Library > Family. This will save out all your families until Revit crashes when a corrupt family is encountered. You then need to write down that family's name, repair it by reloading a working copy of it somewhere, then repeat this Save As - crash - repair process until all corrupt families are replaced. It's annoying you'll get these crashes though. My office use an Revit add-in called 'Cad Files Explorer' to save out all families. It scans all families, suppress any crashes & list all corrupt families at the end.

Somehow, due to your suggestion of providing the .dwg file,it triggered a REVELATION.i tried importing the file in 2 different Rhino template; Large Objects Milimeters, and Small Objects Milimeters. It turns out that the objects come in corrupted in Large Objects template, while they come in clean with Small Objects template.

Hi Mack - it looks like there are trims being missed on import - if you can make a small file from Revit that shows the problem and can post it here or to te...@mcneel.com, that would be great, otherwise, if you can share that large (I assume) file, please zip and upload it to www.rhino3d.com/upload to my attention (Pascal). Thanks.

What version of revit file is supported for import into sketchup studio. I do not use revit but can have someone in office open in revit. What format do I need to export or save as? I did not read the fine print I guess when upgrading to studio last week. I just assumed that all revit files were supported.

Thanks hunterk53973462, I had the same issues "KRVA" described with a graph that was exported to pdf. I usually open in Illustrator to manipulate it. Sometimes the text turns into unreadable characters. Opened the PDF in Adobe Acrobat Pro, under Menu > Save As Other > Archivable PDF/A. Opened it with Illustrator retained readable text. I noticed one outlined line of text and another line of text was individually broken up into individual characters but the rest of the text was intact. Yeah!

Illustrator is not a universal PDF editor. You can usually open a PDF that was created in Illustrator (with Illustrator editing capabilities) but a PDF created from any other program is a risky. What is it you are trying to do?

I just tried this in Illustrator 6 and Acrobat 10 and it worked fine. I suspect you used an earlier version of Acrobat that did not support multiple artboards? If you used the Illustrator default to save your PDF, the fonts should have been embedded and should not have changed after saving in Acrobat. You can check for embedded fonts in Acrobat (File> Properties> fonts). Did your file originate in Illustrator? PDFs from Powerpoint, and Publisher can be problematic, because of un-embedded fonts, even when placed in Illustrator.

But you solved one thing. The type that is messed up comes from a flowchart that was created in Powerpoint. I used Illustrator to clean it up and changed the fonts to Arial. The textblocks that was originally created in Powerpoint is the ones that are messed up.

The problem comes from the Calibri font used in MS Office. It's the same with Excel when copy/pasting a chart from Excel to AI if the Calibri(Theme Body) font was used. You must make the change in PP before moving the file to AI.

I routinely use Illustrator to tidy up plots of scientific data which I originally create by printing and saving to pdf in other apps (mainly Kaleidagraph and Omnigraffle) and I have never had an issue with any of these files.

In my case, my co-author has embedded Excel charts in Word and I don't have access to the original data or charts. The charts use Cambria as the font for labels. I've taken the Word file, selected all and changed the font to Times by applying a new style. I've also selected some chart labels and changed the font from Cambria to Times. All the text that was changed from Calibri or Cambria to Times correctly displays as editable text in Illustrator now. All the text that remained in Cambria is corrupted.

Not sure if this will work for you, but save the Word file as a PDF, Open it in Acrobat and go to Tools> Content> Edit object (this step varies, depending on which version of Acrobat you have). With luck you will be able to select just the chart. If you can, control-click it and choose edit object. Save it as a new file, edit it (change the font) and place it into your Illustrator file. You can choose which application with which to open the chart by going to Acrobat> Preferences> Touch up. If you have Pitstop, an Acrobat plug-in, you should be able to change the font right in Acrobat.

I had a pdf report given to me by a coworker which they wanted to see mocked up in a different layout, when I opened the pdf in illustrator each character appeared as a box with an x in it. The font used was Arial. To fix this problem, I used the following steps:

Hi Julien,

Sorry to hear that you ran into this problem. To confirm, this problem happens to all files, or this specific large one? We will check the log you uploaded first, then keep you updated here, thank u for your patience.

Hi Oliver, the revit file seems to open fine in revit without a problem. I will work on sending it to you. I had tried linking the project into an empty project which drastically shrank the size of the file, however after waiting a while for the loading bar to stop it ended up not producing anything on the D5 program.

We have been using the Twinmotion 2022.2.3 and Revit 2023 workflow, when last Friday one of the TM files we have been working , when we tried opening the file gives us the following error: "This file has been saved with an older version of Twinmotion. You are about to convert it to the latest version. File Current Version: None. File New Version: 2022.2.3. - This will not overwrite the existing file. A new file will be created. Do you want to proceed to conversion?"

Person doing the work has been working from wifi for the rendering, so I am wondering if that caused some sort of error? I was able to get IT to get an older version of TM from backup, but the same problem happened.

Thank you for posting in the community and reporting this problem. It seems like you may have a specific workflow or step that may have caused the file to be corrupted and we would need to investigate further.
