Hi Everyone

 

Wow, what weather we're having, not very good for skiing but it sure makes us dream about the upcoming sailing season.

 

The first event on the local schedule will be the Quebec Championships at HYC on the weekend of June 5th and 6th. We are still trying to decide on a date for the Lac St. Louis Challenge Cup at PCYC. During our winter meeting it was suggested that we hold this regatta towards the end of the season in an effort to spread out our schedule, if you have any suggestion please contact Dave Lowther.

 

The Etchells NA website has most of the summer regattas on their schedule. A couple that may be of interest to our Fleet are the Canadians in Toronto August 14th & 15th and the New England Champs. in Burlington Vt. Sept. 18th & 19th. The Lake Champlain regatta is of particular interest to us, it would be great for the two Fleets  try and establish  home and home annual regattas to help promote both Fleets.

 

During our winter meeting we discussed various ways to promote the Fleet, as always numerous suggestions were made but in today's economy it is hard to come up with a winning formula. I think one of the best things to do is lead by example, as other sailors look for new challenges we should be sure that our Fleet remains active on the race course.  It's in our own best interest to participate in the local regattas as much as possible so others can see what a great boat we have. Marc Farmer is working on an updated crew bank that is on our website, if you're short of crew invite someone from the list. You never know where a potential new owner may come from.
