Hello etcd team!

This is follow-up to #17233I would like to draw your attention to this PR.

This feature is very important for SPQR project, which is about PostgreSQL sharding. We store our metadata in etcd and already know how to restore shards to a specific point in time using WAL-GBut we need to be able to restore our metadata in the same way.

Can any member of etcd-io please leave a comment on #17233 with "/ok-to-test"??

Hi - Thanks for the message & for proposing what sounds like a great feature, I've enabled tests for the PR.

Please bear in mind our roadmap for our next minor release of etcd: https://github.com/etcd-io/etcd/blob/main/Documentation/contributor-guide/roadmap.md.

We may not be able to review this feature until we have completed the existing critical roadmap items.

Thanks for your understanding!
James

Hi!

Thank you so much. All the tests have passed.

If I understand correctly, all the critical items have been solved. Could someone please take a look at our PR and review it?

Best regards,
Denis Volkov.

Hi etcd-developers!

I am writing to follow up on https://github.com/etcd-io/etcd/issues/17233.

We are extremely confused about the etcd project workflow and would appreciate some clarification. We propose "a great feature", but we are experiencing some difficulties with the feedback loop. Is this normal, or are we doing something wrong?

Could someone please take the time to review our pull request and provide us with any insights or suggestions? We would greatly appreciate it.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi,

We already clarified it isn't appropriated to add timestamp into WAL files. Please see my latest response in https://github.com/etcd-io/etcd/pull/17233#issuecomment-2577869847

Thanks
