Hi

I'm curious about the etcd project's plan to support ARM64 architecture at Tier-1 support - https://etcd.io/docs/v3.6/op-guide/supported-platform/. As Arm64-based instances have started appearing in many public cloud providers, I was wondering if there is a plan/roadmap item around etcd's ARM64 Tier-1 support as part of 3.6 release or later? Could you help point me in the right direction? The last activities that I see around this are https://github.com/etcd-io/etcd/pull/13847 and https://github.com/etcd-io/etcd/issues/12856. Thanks!

I don't know anyone activly working on improving support for ARM64, contributions are always welcomed!

Looking at the current definition of tier 2, we should also consider lowering ARM64 support as we no longer fulfill requirements of running to integration and end-to-end tests.

Thanks Marek for your helpful response! I will try to understand the testing and certification process a bit more.

I'd be interested in this as well, happy to contribute in any way I can, we are looking at migrating to arm servers as well.

Great to hear that. Feel free to create an issue that proposes improving ARM64 support.

I think the first two steps would be:
* Check why previous attempt failed (there was some security/abuse problem), maybe we can mitigate it now.
* Request ARM64 machines from CNCF. I would look through https://github.com/cncf/cluster/issues on how other projects made similar request and copy it.

Thanks,
Marek
