Introducing SMMCore
SMMCore is transaction metadata contributed mostly by three members –
MediaCorp, Disney and Ascend Media, taking considerationof local and
global content exchange metadata needs. The sub-workgroup adopted the
approach of identifying the market participants and their
transactional requirements, and then using an established standard,
e.g, P/Meta or PBCore as a baseline to get started.
This exchange metadata model contains four sections:
Description - e.g., keyword, language
Business - e.g., UMID, Business unit
Technical – e.g., Timecode, Video Format
Rights – e.g., License Period, Licensed Territory
Besides the metadata model, the file package also contains 5 reference
data files for country list, date time format, language list, aspect
ratio and genre list.
What's coming next
We are trying to work out a combined set (if necessary) of ETC
Metadata Model and SMMCore.
We are working on a demo version - a web UI to generate actual
metadata xml files based on the model. This is for end users to get
some hands on experience on metadata, which otherwise could be purely
conceptual.
P.S. I tried to upload files but realized I may not have uploading
right. Appreciate if anybody here can tell me how to get the files
uploaded. Thanks.
